Mike Hock's Tattooed Chef Updates - 5/9/21 (in no particular order) Compilation of company related observations, mentions, etc. Tempura Green Beans $2 instant savings 20% off original price of $9.98 At Sam's Club thru May 27th It's possible that the price reduction is to move out the remaining stock of this limited time offering (a similar sale was implemented four the 4-pack of plant-based pepperoni pizza bowls last year). The product has a four star rating by Sam's Club customers. Attention Target shoppers! This week, a total of 7 new SKU's have been SPOTTED in the ridiculously red retailer's freezers: Four of the new offerings are VEGAN, as the brand seeks to gain market share from that demographic. Notably, the sweet potato gnocchi features a plant-based butter. The new "pasta" dishes appear to be real innovators, and as far as I can tell first-to-market featuring both gluten-free pasta and plant-based meats. Also noteworthy is that all seven of these new SKU's are GLUTEN-FREE. The competition is getting fierce in the freezer section with Amy's, Conagra and B&G Foods. In other Target news, the big box retailer appears to be picking up club-style 4 packs of the cauliflower mac & cheese for $18.99 This is a very interesting development, as the store previously was carrying the single bowls for $4.99 - perhaps there has been such a demand for this particular SKU that a multi-pack made sense to satisfy customer demand? Cannot say for sure but certainly seems like a very good sign. The company recently announced via social media that the vegetable spiral nests have been included in The Beet's "5 best planet-based products to try this week for meatless May" See https://thebeet.com/the-5-best-plant-based-products-of-the-week-from-the-editors- of-the-beet-3/ for the full article. The Beet describes itself as "your all-in-one guide to eating more plants, whether you want to be plant-based, plant-leaning, or plant-forward!" Costco will be running a $3 off no limit coupon for the organic riced cauliflower stir fry, for their circular dated May 19 - June 13 Nice "seal of approval" from a dietitian: TTCF featured as "Zack's Bear of the Day" 5/6/21 https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bear-day-tattooed-chef-ttcf-104510639.html "Many companies describe getting into the big box stores as a “deal with the devil.” They pick up a massive amount of merchandise orders, far more than they could possibly find on their own. But they also find their once-innovative products turned into commodity items, making sourcing and manufacturing decisions much more important for profitability than the creativity that got them there in the first place. I’d like to see Tattooed Chef succeed, and I’d never even consider selling the stock short." For what it's worth: https://www.tipranks.com/bloggers/david-borun https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tattooed-chef-report-first-quarter-120000459.html As I'm browsing the store locator on the website (5/9/21), noticed that no Target stores are showing up. Guessing this is due to the new products being added to the database. Here are some new outlets I've stumbled upon. Found in DOZENS of Stop and Shops! (not full list)
