Chakras and Your Health & Wellbeing (Sahaja Yoga) “Like the Ardhanari Nateshwara is the Shiva that will be the state of human beings. Their old age will disappear, their body will remain as it is and they will have a body which is divine. What a promise! “[1] Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi , Solapur(India), 30 th Jan. 1982 How to Use This Guide – 'Physician Heal Thyself' You may recognise the blue symbol of the snake and staff from the side of ambulances. It is called the 'Rod of Asclepius' and, according to Greek mythology was held in the hand of Asclepius, the god of healing and medicine. There are various theories about the meaning of the symbol, or specifically, the entwined snake. In certain ancient cultures, snakes were associated with the ability to rejuvenate and therefore to have the powers of self-healing. The symbol might also hint at a lost or hidden ancient knowledge about yoga and the kundalini, whose spiral movement up the sushumna or central channel of the subtle body, has been likened to that of a snake. And similar to a snake, the kundalini, from the writing of the Indian poet-saint, Gyaneshwara , is said to have a healing and rejuvenating effect on the kundalini yoga practitioner. So, by your daily practice of sahaja yoga meditation, the kundalini could be carrying on a slow and silent process of inner transformation, not only of your awareness – vibrational/thoughtless awareness, which is a higher state than ordinary thinking awareness, but also your appearance and how you feel physically, mentally and emotionally ('niranada-tva' – bliss consciousness). This is the significance of the quote above on the first page. But there are obstacles: the state of your chakras. The chakras are delicate, subtle, like flowers(lotus) and collect the imprint of your daily life experiences and interactions with people, places and things – good and bad. Through this, certain chakras can become constricted and impede the free flow upwards of the kundalini in the way that debris in a stream prevents the water flowing smoothly. From this can come eventually all different shapes and forms of 'un-wellness'. The kundalini does her best to try and improve the state of the chakra but you can help her . Due to the encoding of the chakras on the fingers , you can tell when a chakra is constricted by the sensation of tingling, heat or numbness on particular fingers (or toes). The easiest way to clear the chakra is to rub the corresponding finger. You can also use sanskrit mantras to clear a chakra. You can rub the corresponding part of the head during a head massage or rub the corresponding part of the foot during a foot massage after your footsoak in the evening to also clear a chakra. This guide shows you where everything is and what mantras to say so that you can help your kundalini in her work of transforming you, inside and out, into you best self. (6:246-248). Body gets rejuvenated The skin which covers the lustre of this nectar and is brightened by it is shed and all the organs show their bright aura. (6:250, 252-253). Now even Death is afraid of it (the body) and the aging process gets reversed and the yogi gets back his bygone childhood and he looks like a boy.” Extract from Chapter 6 of Dyaneshwari (Lord of Meditation) by Sant Gyaneshwar (1275 - 1296)
