Formal Petition for the Knighting of Samuel Moon Master Squire Count Fuzzy To Current Neverwinter Monarch, I have only known Sam a few years, but he is one of the kindest and most humble people I know. He is driven to serve, and to help people. Whether it is teaching free classes, gifting supplies to parks, creating fantastic awards for the populace, or organizing events, he has through his work and dedication made himself a prominent member of our Kingdom. Even to his own detriment, sometimes, he puts others first and volunteers for any job that’s available. He may not be native to this Kingdom, but he has made it his home, and us his friends and family. He came to us years ago with his Masterhood already and has had that high accolade for over 21 years now. He has been a nearly constant volunteer, and occasional Crat. Sir Randal once said “People are appointed to do a good job. Knights don’t need to be appointed.” The amount he has given to this organization and this Kingdom is immense. He may not have held many official positions in this Kingdom, but he has helped at most Kingdom events that I have been to in my 5 years, and always with a smile on his face. This is not a man who helps to help himself, but because of his genuine care for others. His service in the Wetlands is vast. He was a Captain in Roger’s Raiders, a Battle Company and Household renowned in several Kingdoms for their service, especially their feasts. He was the Autocrat of the first two legate events (1994, 95) and the Autocrat of the first Wetlands Coronation (1996) for his Squire brother Sir Morgan Ironwolf. He was also the Autocrat for Spring Wars III, a large interkingdom event with a massive turnout (1996), and a symposium-like arts and sciences event hosted at Texas A&M with over 150 attendees (1997). He served several terms as the Chancellor of the Duchy of Mordengaard for which he received his Lord title, and one term as its Duke for which he received his Baron title. In 1999 he was voted into office as Kingdom Prime Minister, for which he received his Count title. He talks about that position very fondly and is remembered fondly by the Monarchy of the time. He was also Kingdom Regent (2000) of the Wetlands. He was autocrat of the Knowne World Heraldic Symposium (2000). Like now, he was constantly volunteering and helping behind the scenes. For his service both in and out of office, he was awarded his Master Rose in 2000 by Queen Dame Fionnghal Nic Phaidin, who along with Dame Eskana (Regent of the WL, Reign 8) and Sir Fnord Farthing (his knight) have been contacted and offer support for his Knighting. After moving to Florida in 2001 and becoming active in Neverwinter, he has held several provincial offices as well as Kingdom level crat positions. He has gifted time, money, and creations to our populace and Kingdom. He has also received Orders of the Zodiac and Attaboy for his service, as the populace felt the need to recognize his service but without the ability to grant more roses. Sam (Master Count Fuzzy of Neverwinter) has nearly 30 years of experience in this game, and in that time has made a lot of connections. If he is deemed worthy of being Knighted, then I know he would want some of his beltline, specifically Sir Michael Hammer of God and Sir Fnord Farthing to be contacted and invited. Dame Eskana should be contacted as well. The latter two I believe are inactive, but still may come for an event to see him receive this honour. Lord Nephilim Fáelán the Fated, Esq. v We (my husband and I) played in the Celestial Kingdom/Wetlands in the 90s/2000s (I a Master lion/Knight of the Flame and Master Garber/Knight of the Serpent. My hubby was a Warlord/Knight of the Sword) so we know the game pretty well and we were both truly amazed with how much work Sam put into developing and growing the groups and to help create the Kingdom of the Wetlands. He was mostly behind the scenes, which is more his style, but he was instrumental in the foundation and formation of the Kingdom. He autocratted a lot of our first events. Plus all his previous work and stuff for the Celestial Kingdom. Like autocratting the spring war (spring war 3) that got more than 500 people! Heck, I think it was the biggest attendance for an Amtgard event at the time. I don’t think clan was that big then but it might have been close. He has definitely done the work and put in the time!!! I know he feels he needs to be known more on the Kingdom level, and that he is busy with trying to bring back Mythic Forge too. However, I also disagree with making him “re-earn” his masterhood or prove anything. By corpora and long-standing traditions, he is eligible for Knighthood through his Masterhood. And if his Masterhood is being questioned, I was in office when it was awarded back in 2000. He more than earned it. His service is longstanding and immense. The only question is, is he worthy of character to wear the white belt? And I believe the answer to that is an unequivocal yes. In fact, I see Sam as more deserving to be a Knight than almost any other person I have known in the game. He is hardworking and fiercely loyal. I know Neverwinter is a quirky Kingdom when it comes to awards and titles. But I truly feel that if there resides a sense of justice in the Crown, that they would not delay in giving Sam (Fuzzy) the well deserved honor of Knight of the Flame. Dame Eskana Knight of the Serpent Knight of the Flame Regent of the Wetlands Reign 8 Dear Gillie, I must admit I was shocked when I was contacted to write this letter on behalf of Farid. I can only speak of his service in the Wetlands, and perhaps that is the very problem. It shouldn’t be. A person who served, and I can imagine, continues to do so from what I’ve been told, in such a capacity and with such frequency has surely deserved his belt long ago. For my first few years in Amtgard, he seemed to be everywhere and doing everything. There were a few of us like that. I myself strived to follow the example that he and others set. He is committed to helping others. As an officer, teacher, mentor, and friend; he always gave off the sense of somebody who was there to fix problems, whatever they may be. I highly recommend Farid for Knight of the Flame, and feel if he hadn’t moved Kingdoms, it would have been done very shortly. If moving Kingdoms doesn’t strip your belt, then it surely shouldn’t prevent you from getting it. I have no doubt that he would continue the grace and kindness I know him for regardless of whether he has his belt or not; but that is precisely the reason he should have it. He is an exemplary person, and one that people have and do look up to. That should be the type of people you want as leaders and as Knights. In Service, Dame Elora Raven-Goldmoon Knight of the Flame To the Neverwinter Circle of Knights, Just a brief note from someone who has known Farid al-Baz for almost the entirety of his nearly three decades in Amtgard, he's been a steady and reliable servant to the game. He's served both in offices (most reliably as an able and meticulous kingdom prime minister, as well as regent) and as a set of hands for set up, running, and cleaning up events. I had hoped that he would have already been recognized already for his long history of dedication and was saddened to find he had not been. I'm asking for you to please consider rectifying this oversight and granting Farid the privilege of knight of the Flame for his years of selfless dedication. Yours in Service, Alara the Drake Knight of the Serpent A semi-complete list of his verifiable notable accomplishments: Playing Amtgard since 1994 in the Celestial Kingdom Founding Member of the Wetlands Autocrat of both Wetlands pre-kingdom Legate events Autocrat for the first Wetlands Coronation Autocrat of Spring Wars III, possibly the largest amtgard event yet at that point Autocrat of Amtgard ran A&S event at Texas A&M 1997 (over 150 people in attendance) Autocrat, Knowne World Heraldic Symposium, 2000 Former Captain of Roger's Raiders Duke of Mordengaard PM of Mordengaard 3 terms (Duchy) Kingdom Regent of the Wetlands Kingdom Prime Minister of the Wetlands Master Rose (2000) Lord, Baron, and Count titles Order of the Zodiac and Attaboy for his contributions in service 7 orders of the Griffin (Given for "Courage, Chivalry, and Honour") Many other crat positions in CK, WL, and NW including notably Gatecrat and Medicrat 3 years in WL BoD Partial term in NW BoD Baron of NodRama Chancellor of Mythic Forge (Barony) Chancellor of Ravenshurst (Shire) Gifting of time, money, and materials to several NW parks (most notably NodRama, Mythic Forge, and Falling Fire) He has taught many classes including: Heraldry (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) Heraldic Bestiary How to Blazon Calligraphy Scroll Making Period Armory Historical Battle Strategies The History of Chess The History of Backgammon History of Awards Kumihimo Braiding And, as has been pointed out by several others, most of his work has been behind the scenes.
