R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar was established in 1987 as a Regional Engineering College and was elevated to the status of a National Institute of Technology (Deemed University) in 2002 by the Government of India. In recognition of its academic and national significance, the institute was subsequently declared an Institute of National Importance under the Parliament Act of 2007. In 2025, NIT Jalandhar reinforced its position among India’s leading technical institutions by securing the 55th rank in Engineering and falling within the 101–150 band overall in the NIRF rankings. ABOUT UTKANSH SOCIAL CAUSES PRAYAAS A non-profit organization of NGO started by the students of our college which caters towards the benefit of deprived children in the vicinity of our campus providing them with food, clothing and primary level of education. SWACHH BHARAT Inaugurated in 2021 to ensure cleanliness in the college campus. During the Swachhta Pakhwada, NITJ has organized activities related to cleanliness awareness as tree/sapling plantation, online competitions regarding water conservation, and forest conservation. BLOOD DONATION Towards a good cause for the society, an extensive blood donation camp was set up in Utkansh which was supported by several donors. NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME With the motto of "Not me but you" of the NSS, students of our college are trying to understand and organize various social welfare programs among which the plantation drive is most common.
