Installing addons on ungoogled chromium: Because so much of google’s stuff has been stripped out of ungoogled chromium, the chrome web store doesn’t actually recognize your browser is compatible by default. This tutorial covers both how to install the addon that will allow you to get direct addon files, but also how to install them to chromium. 1. Download the chromium web store extension here . It should save as Chromium Web Store.crx 2. Then go to crx extractor . Click start for free. Then click choose file. Select Chromium Web Store.crx and upload it. 3. The prompt should then change to a “Get source code” button. Click on that. 4. This will download a zip file with the same name as the crx file. Create a folder with the same name and extract the contents of the zip into that. Wherever you save this folder is where the addon is going to be when you need to update it. 5. Click the three dots on the top right of the screen and go to settings at the bottom of the menu 6. On the left side, below advanced, there will be your extensions menu. 7. This should be empty and there shouldn’t be any options except for a “developer mode” switch. If that’s gray, click it so it’s blue. 8. I think the browser makes you restart. If so, reopen that settings > extensions menu again 9. There should be a button at the top left that says “Load unpacked”. Click that 10. Navigate to the folder you extracted the zip contents to from earlier. Click that folder and press “Select Folder” 11. If successful, it should look something like this: 12. From there, you can now browse the chrome web store as you would normally. You should see an “Add to chromium” button on every addon. This will download the .crx for the addon, and from there you just follow from step 2 onward. Updating is also the same process.
