A L LOT A L LOT Helping areas to thrive, communities to flourish and businesses to do good in their local area. 3 The issue. 5 The United Nations reports that 68% of the world population is projected to live in urban areas by 2050. In the wake of our climate crisis the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (aiming to end poverty and protect our planet by 2030) advise that “cities and human settlements of today and the future are to be inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.” - UN Sustainable Goal 11 Achieving true sustainability will require innovation in our environmental, economic and social activities. 6 7 Charities, community groups and social service providers help underpin the social sustainability of any given place. They understand and enhance the lives of the people and places that they represent. It is a sad reality that these groups are impacted by funding cuts and often cannot afford to hire a space to meet with their friends and colleagues and continue to do the amazing work that they do. “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” – Coretta Scott King 8 9 Coupled with the equally sad reality that hundreds of thousands of square feet of commercial office, retail and residential space is being underutilised or left empty, we feel that an opportunity to be more socially responsible is being missed. 10 11 The solution. 13 Our platform will facilitate the pairing of charities and community groups in need of space with high-quality and underused office space in London, inviting two groups of subscribers: Space-sharers Asset managers, businesses, landlords Space-occupiers Charities, community groups, residents groups 14 15 The Allot platform offers a bespoke service that allows space-sharers and space-occupiers to match together based on shared values and the suitability of the spaces. These shared values will reflect the environmental and social priorities (or corporate social responsibilities) of the sharer and the type of charitable or community work that the occupiers do. For some partnerships that could be created through the Allot platform, space may be just the catalyst. We want to create lasting partnerships where both sides share resources, from skills sharing to volunteering. 16 17 Why share space? Help support charities and organisations to do good things by giving them high-quality spaces, meaning they can spend their limited resources on things that really matter. Help provide a solution to the issue of government funding cuts that are affecting charities and community groups at a national scale. Activate unused spaces and areas. Having a ghost town isn’t really good for a brand or a community, and Allot can change this by curating underutilised spaces to put the crème de la crème of kind and helpful people in, and bring them to life! Look pretty good to brand investors and business partners. We can guarantee that social sustainability has popped up on the proverbial agenda somewhere along the line, and an initiative that supports charities at a low cost is a win-win. Prove you’re doing your bit to your consumers – subscribers to the platform will be awarded an accreditation – we’ll also work with both sharers and occupiers to spread this positive message for them. 18 19 What space can be shared? As long as a space is accessible, has (or can have) furniture, is heated, is well lit and is safe it can be used for something socially responsible during the times it may be sitting there, totally empty. We’re looking for: Office meeting rooms Desk space Foyer / lobby space Retail space Vacant residential units Space can be shared for as long as the space-sharer likes. This could be an hour for a meeting, or a month for a charity to use as a base between locations. Whatever there is spare, we’ll work with space-sharers to find a way to make the absolute most of it. 20 21 The criteria for space-occupiers In order to make sure we create perfect matches between space-sharers and space-occupiers, we need to make sure that the spaces are high quality and will ultimately add value to a cause, so it is only fair that we ask the same of the people using them. Space-occupiers must therefore be registered charities and community organisations that have proven social impact. Not only does this reduce any level of risk for the space providers, but it means that we can demonstrate that this method of reusing spaces really does help to facilitate a whole load of good deeds. The more we prove this, the more spaces and charities we’ll add to our pool. 22 23 The nitty gritty... Costs The costs to space-sharers are minimal. The spaces already exist, and in many cases the on-site security is already there on an evening and weekend. There is a subscription cost associated with Allot and It is up to the space- sharer whether you cover any other associated costs (e.g. security) if this is not already provided. You can highlight if you are not providing this on the platform and any charity who is matched with your space can decide if they are happy to cover this cost themselves. There are no subscription costs for potential space-occupiers, however they may be asked to pay a small deposit. Risk and Liability Landlords and charities would enter into individual contracts stating that the charity agrees to reasonable liability. If something breaks or someone has an accident, it would be up to the charity to cover the cost, as per their own insurance policy. 24 25 The future of Allot. Who are we currently engaging with? Leading property developers Our research has proven that developers and asset managers are increasingly curious as to how to activate their spaces - with community, retail, co-working, and other flexible uses. We will work with them to identify these opportunities and deliver maximum benefit to the community. Local councils We want to support councils wherever we can. Allot compensates for the lack of services and funding that councils are not always able to offer by working with them to identify council-owned sites as potential occupation spaces and match them with the right local charity or organisation. Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) We are engaging with local businesses and authorities of Business Improvement Districts to help enhance and extend the improvements they make to their local area with an emphasis on social sustainability. 28 29 allot.london A L LOT Messages Profile Farringdon WHERE FIELD OF WORK WC2 Arts and Culture DATE FROM DATE TO X Education 07/03/2020 08/03/2020 X Employment Environmental issues NO.
