The museum is perfect for holiday parties, cocktail receptions, or corporate meetings and retreats. The warm, natural design of our state-of-the-art addition compliments the historic charm of our Colonial house. ABOUT THE MUSEUM A dynamic center for experiencing the visual arts, the Cahoon Museum is home to a collection of American art with historic breadth from the early 19th century to contemporary art and a special focus on regional art of the Northeast and Cape Cod. The museum celebrates the creative spirit of folk artists Ralph and Martha Cahoon through the preservation of their artwork and the 1782 historic building which served as their home and studio. The museum presents an ambitious schedule of original exhibitions each year throughout nine gallery spaces. ROOM DESCRIPTIONS AND CAPACITIES The Cahoon Museum has a capacity of 100 guests and includes use of the following spaces: -Front Lobby -First Floor Main Gallery (seats 40 to 60 – subject to current exhibit limitations) -First and Second Floor Historic Building -Courtyard Garden Available Times: Daytime Monday & Tuesday 9:00am-4:30pm Evening Monday-Sunday evenings 4:30-10:00pm Pricing: Rates are based on party size for a three-hour rental period (including set-up and clean up). Flat rate includes post-event museum cleaning fee of $200. Rates per three-hour maximum: -15 people or less: $600 -16-35 people: $800 -36-55 people: $1000 -56-75 people: $1200 -76-100 people: $1,500 Discounted rates are available to qualified non-profit organizations. Please email the museum for rates. POLICIES & GENERAL INFORMATION RENTAL The museum rental includes use of space only. Catering services or supplies, such as linens and table coverings, may be provided through a caterer. If the event requires tables or chairs, the client is responsible for coordinating the rental and all associated fees. Rental delivery and pick up must be discussed and approved in advance with the Cahoon Museum of American Art representative. A list of all vendors, with contact information, must be provided to the museum prior to the event. A Cahoon Museum representative will be on site throughout your event. In the instance of evening functions, guests must leave the premises by 10:30pm. DEPOSITS AND PAYMENT SCHEDULE A non-refundable 50% deposit is required upon signing an event agreement. The final balance is required 30 days prior to the event date. If payment is not received by the due dates, the Cahoon Museum reserves the right to release the date. CATERING AND BEVERAGE SERVICE Any licensed and insured caterer can work in the Cahoon Museum building and on the grounds. No self-catering is permitted. The Cahoon Museum can provide you with a list of recommended caterers. The caterer is responsible for food service staff, table coverings and linens, dinnerware, silverware, and glassware. There are no facilities for cooking at the museum. Caterers may bring in heating and warming appliances, though all food must be fully prepared. There is a small prep space with a sink, warming tray, fridge, and microwave on the lower level of the museum. Alcohol service must stop fifteen minutes before the end of the function. Wine and beer sold to you by the caterer shall not be resold during the function. There shall be no direct or indirect solicitation of payment by anyone for beverages served during the function. TRASH REMOVAL All trash from the event must be removed from the premises at the end of the event, by the caterer or client. Any trash left will result in a $200 service fee. INSURANCE AND LIABILITY For your protection, Cahoon Museum reserves the right to approve all caterers, bartenders, and suppliers. Caterers and bartenders must be properly licensed, must carry a minimum of $1,000,000 general liability insurance, and must file a Certificate of Insurance with the Cahoon Museum of American Art listing it as an additional insured, at least thirty (30) days before the event. If alcohol is to be served, the caterer or bartender must hold offsite liquor liability insurance with a minimum of one million dollars ($1,000,000) per occurrence and one million dollars ($1,000,000) in the aggregate, listing the Cahoon Museum of American Art as an additional insured. Failure to provide appropriate documentation of insurance results in the Cahoon Museum’s right to cancel the event at its discretion, and the client’s forfeiture of all deposits/fees. CANDLES AND DÉCOR Please review your decorations with a Cahoon Museum representative. Decorating guidelines are in place to protect artwork in the museum. Do not tape, nail, or tack anything onto any painted surface. No existing artwork, furnishings or carpeting may be moved. No glitter, confetti or rice are allowed in the building. Balloons, chocolate and wine fountains, water features, fog machines, bubble and foam machines, sharpies, and permanent paint are not allowed. Anything with a flame (candles, matches, butane warmers, etc.) is prohibited on the premises. The Cahoon Museum is a smoke-free campus. No smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, is permitted anywhere inside the buildings, including the bathrooms. Smoking is also prohibited on the grounds, including the parking lot. MUSIC Musicians are welcome at the Cahoon Museum. Power sources may be limited. If power is needed, please discuss with the Cahoon Museum representative during the planning. PARKING There are 37 general parking spaces and 4 accessible spaces. LOADING AND UNLOADING Deliveries will be made in accordance with a schedule determined by you and approved by the Cahoon Museum representative. PUBLIC SPACE The Cahoon Museum is a public space, and the buildings are open to the public from 10:00am to 4:00 pm Wednesday - Sunday. QUESTIONS?
