A BRIEF HISTORY AND ACHEIVEMENTS OF RYAN INTERNATIONAL MONTESSORI SCHOOL, TALIPARAMBA RYAN Educational & Charitable Trust, founded by a team of eminent educationists is a unique school designed to transform the young generation to well-developed, global citizens. Our holistic approach to learning promotes the development of every student’s mind, body and soul’ in an academically stimulating environment. The trust was formed & registered on 28th April 2015 under the Indian Trust Act with Registration No 150/1V/2015 and it was decided to start a new school Ryan International Montessori School following Montessori Method of education, which is the most student friendly and innovative method. The Montessori Method in the Pre-School Division The Ryan International Montessori School, Taliparamba with the Montessori Method in its pre- school division brings a new era in education in Kannur and the surrounding areas. The Montessori Method is based on the belief that education is more than just sharpening of intellectual skills. It is a preparation for life. Dr. Maria Montessori referred to the mind of a child between 3 and 6 years of age as the Absorbent Mind. During this time he/she literally absorbs everything in his environment through sensorial exploration. By sensorially absorbing the surrounding, a child forms his personality and himself. An educational researcher verifies that, the early years are the most important years of a child’s life. It is during this period between conception and four years that the child develops 50-60% of his intelligence.The child develops 30% intelligence between the ages of 4-8 years. Academics RYAN strives to provide holistic and child-centered education that ensures excellence in every sphere of life .We focus on the overall development of the student's personality. Our approach aims at empowering students with all the qualities that help them face the challenges of life. Apart from Academics, we give special emphasis to life skills & personality development, outdoor visit & outreach program, for practical education. Communicative & social skills are developed through interactive learning. Student strength is limited in each class to ensure individual attention. Special activities are also conducted from time to time involving all the three stake holders. Periodic orientation for Parents, Seminars, Grandparent’s day, Mothers Carnival, Food fest Outreach programs are some of the attractive ones. Our unique identity is the child centered learning with special emphasis on life skills and personality development. Curriculum Our broad, updated and balanced curriculum includes a wide range of co-curricular activities which will help to promote confidence, discipline, team spirit, co-operation, leadership qualities and critical thinking skills of our students. The growing concern over the erosion of essential values and increasing cynicism in the society have brought to focus the need for re-designing the curriculum in order to make education a forceful tool for the cultivation of social and moral values. Thus the value education classes form an integral part of the ethos of our institution, which aims at the refinement of feeling and the strength and purity of character. Physical education has a prominent place in our curriculum. Meditation and yoga classes are ingrained within the curriculum to increasingly harmonize and integrate student's thoughts, emotions, motives etc. to unfold his/her inherent mental and physical abilities. YEAR -1 Mr Anis, out of his urge to establish quality schools initiated efforts to establish a school in Taliparamba, Manna with his friend Mr Ashraf. Initially the school was named ZYAN International Montessori School. An Orientation Programme was held for parents of the students of Grade 1 on 18th of May 2013, for helping them have a deeper understanding of the Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) & its benefits, and to ensure better performance of their wards in their academic journey. The school consisted of four students in year one with one teacher and one office staff. The school organised various co-curricular activities as scheduled in the Activity Planner. YEAR-2 After the first year we had an additional of 8 students including the previous year students. During the year 2014 the institution focused on various student development attributes with the help of teachers. Under the supervision of the faculty members, these 12 students were trained academically in the best possible manner. Immense importance was given to various club activities for their holistic development. Teachers of almost all the subjects, attended various workshops and seminars conducted by Pearson, Astragen, N.C.E.R.T, and other publications. During the second year the school renamed the institution and was registered under the name Ryan International Montessori School. YEAR-3 In the third year, the management team developed a structure for the organization. The team again constituted a trust. The inauguration was on 13th June 2016, It was followed by various competitions, Dental checkup camp and a Session on oral hygiene. The School opened with student strength of 20 and gradually increased to 32 students. The children were taken to various spots of historical importance, factories and other important places as a part of industrial visit or practical learning, so as to promote realistic experience. YEAR -4 The year 2016-17 added a feather on its cap with the opening of elementary school. This year student strength increased to a total of 64. This year was special for our school. We held special events and outreach charity activities. The academic session began on 8th June 2016 with an orientation programme for parents in order to apprise them of the methods of the school. The academic session began on 7th June 2017with an orientation for parents. Since togetherness and to train them in the methods of the school. This orientation programme was designed in such a way that the teachers could understand the mental and academic status of the children and plan for further activities Apart from all the yearly celebrations like teacher’s day, doctor’s day, Independence day, Kerala Piravi, we also focused on various health care services for the well being of ours students. Services like free dental check up, audio screening and MR Vaccinations have been executed in an appropriate manner. Our institution organized various educational field trips to police station, fire station, hospital, paddy field and folklore academy. Various competitions were held to evaluate the students’ talents in both academic and life skills. Furthermore we have also given a platform to students to develop diverse skills such as fine motor skills and gross motor skills, through creative activities such as clay modeling, origami, pottery etc. Below are the guests who have been honored at Ryan international Montessori School during the Academic year 2017-18. The School has progressed by leaps and bounds during this period. The Academic Session(2018-19) began on 11th June 2018. A number of curricular & co-curricular activities were scheduled, for the academic & personal development of our children. We have conducted World Environment Day (05-06-18), Reading day (19-06-2018), International Yoga Day (21-06-2018) & International Day against Drug Abuse (26-06-2018). A Dental Camp & Eye camp was held for the benefit of our children, on 03-07-2018. Basheer Day (05-07-2018), Healthy Eating Day (17-07-2018), Interhouse Quiz Competition (17-07-2018), National Moon Day (20-07- 2018),Hiroshima Day (06-08-2018) & Nagasaki Day (09-08-2018), Independence Day(15-08- 18),Teachers Day(05-09-18),Ozone Day(16-09-18),Best out of waste(11-09-18),Hindi Divas(14-09- 18),Gandhi Jayanthi(02-10-18),Motivational Class for Students(08-10-18),Kerala Piravi(01-11- 18),Grandparents Day(05-11-18),Talent search week(07-11-18 to 14-11-18),Childrens Day(14-1- 18),Origami Demo(05-12-18) & Annual sports meet(12-12-18) were also held. Outreach Programme. In addition to the above, our students distributed thirty two kits (food items) to the needy students of a nearby school, on 13th July 2018, as a part of our Ramadan Outreach Programme. A Flood Relief outreach programme was also held on 04-09-18. The proceeds of the sale from the food stall set on Grandparents day (05-11-18) was donated to the Palliative care unit, Taliparamba. Our school has acquired a good reputation for it’s accomplishments in the field of education. We will strive to provide quality education to our students in the years to come. Workshop for Teachers Workshops were held for teachers on 03-09-18 and 18-10-18 by eminent Resource persons. Picnic to Coorg,Karanataka Gr.2 to 7 (10-11-18) Picnic to Vismaya Park,Parassiikadavu Gr.1(18-11-18) YEAR 7 We have commenced our seventh year 2019-2020 in our new campus at Vadakanchery road near 7th mile Taliparamba looking forward to a successful year. Academic session began on 12th June 2019. Our school has been providing quality education and creating global citizens by grooming its students for all round, harmonious and holistic development. It is a way of expanding the horizons of the world beyond the text books. Keeping ourselves up with the pace of the modern world, Complete Digitization of the school was undertaken which transformed the entire school chores channel through the Information Technology, bringing in more transparency and enhanced communication with parents and community. Parents can keep a real-time track of the status of their child for daily attendance and homeworks, fee status, periodic results, school circulars and news, etc. through the SCHOOL APP on Android and through WEB PORTALS. The students were given a warm welcome with a token of love by the staffs of Ryan. After a self introduction session the school dispersed at 12 noon. READING DAY (19-06-2019) Reading Day was observed on 19-06-2019 to honour Sri .P N. Panikar for his contribution to the cause of literacy, education and library movement. A special assembly convened. Mrs.Sithara C.K spoke on the importance of reading in ones life. Class libraries were set and officially inaugurated by writer Mr. P.V. Madhusudhanan. He inspired the children towards the glory of reading he also donated some books written and published by him and other authors to the library. HANDWRITING COMPETITION Handwriting competition was conducted class wise. The objective of this competition was to encourage the students to improve their handwriting skills. It provides students with an opportunity to display their competency of legible writing. All students put in their best and participated in the competition.The competition was organized in the respective class rooms. DOCTORS DAY(01/07/2019) Doctors day was observed every year to honour Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. Students of Grade V, VI, VII visited hospitals nearby along with teachers to pay their tribute to the doctors and their profession. Interaction with doctors of Lourde Hospital and Nethrajyothi Eye Hospital enriched the students with understanding of dignity of the profession. NATURE WALK (18-07-2019) “God made you, God made me God made trees, God made leaves” It is always fun to help and be with our green friends as they help to keep our environment clean in purifying air and giving us oxygen to survive. Students of grade IV, V, VI and VII went on nature walk on 18-07-2019. The nature walk broadened their knowledge and gave them familiarity of different kinds of plants leaves. Students were asked to take deep breathe to inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide and explained the importance of plants. They collected different leaves and flowers. Students listened to the chirping of birds and they also sang the songs of joy. MATH FUN (25-07-2019) Mathematics exhibition was organized by Einstein’s Apple Club for the students. This opened the doors to the tricks and games in math. The participant student enjoyed their learning by doing. The exhibition could reduce the fear of the subject in many student and could bring them interest in learning math. FRIENDSHIP DAY(01/08/2019) “Friendship is the only cure for the hatred, the only guarantee of peace.” Friendship bond can build a bond between students and mentor, and between students. Friendship day is celebrated was celebrated on 1st August 2019. Students prepared friendship day cards and exchanged with their friends. INDEPENDENCE DAY (15-08-2019) Independence day was marked with flag hosting by the Principal Mr. Anis M. K. The students presented patriotic songs and speeches. Kick start for Green Alert activities with the motto “STAY ON GREEN ALERT TO AVOID RED ALERT”. Students were encouraged to think about the need to preserve nature in the light of natural calamities happened by the Principal through his Independence Day address. Student took Save Earth pledge. Colour the earth green activity was announced SCHOOL COUNCIL ELECTION (19-08-2019) Election to school parliament was conducted on 19-08-2019. It was a practical experience for students on how voting is done in democratic system. FLOOD OUTREACH PROGRAMME Our school believe that it is the moral responsibility of every individual to lend a helping hand to the hapless victims of torrential rains who needed our help. As a part of flood outreach programme the students of our school distributed study materials to the needy students of Maryland High School, Madambam “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving” TEACHER’S DAY (05-09-2019) Teacher’s Day was celebrated in the school on 05-09-2019. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. M V Janardhanan, Rtd school teacher. This was followed by a speech by the Principal, honoring of the chief guest by Vice Chairman Mr. Abdul Gafoor. Programmes and games for teachers were also conducted by the students. GRANDPARENTS DAY, EXHIBITION & SNACK OF LOVE (11.11.2019) Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children. Grandparents are family’s greatest treasure, greatest story tellers and the keepers of traditions. Grandparents are families’ strong foundation. Through their special love and care, grandparents keep their family close at heart. To honour them Ryan International School celebrated grandparent day on 11.11.2019 along with exhibition and snack of love (food corner). The programme began with prayer by school choir. Welcome Address was given by Ms.Bindhu Vinod, Headmistress, Ryan International School. Introductory remark was given by Mr. Anis M.K Principal, Ryan International School. The chief guest Mr. Abdul Kadher Panakkat(President, Welfare Association of Kannur) addressed the gathering. Honouring the senior grandparents was held and the honouring was done by Mr. Anis M.K Principal, Ryan International School. This was followed by inauguration of exhibitions by Mr.Moinudeen M.P (Trustee,Ryan International School). The different exhibition held on the day were Thanima Malayalam, Ormacheppu, Kerala festivals, Arab world, Montessori exhibition, robotic exhibition Tech Flash. The chief guest Mr. Abdul Kadher Panakkat(President, Welfare Association of Kannur) inaugurated the snack of love(food corner). Food delicacies prepared by the grandparents was arranged in the food corner with varities of food items at reasonable price. The amount collected from this snack of love was contributed for the charity work. Different varities of games was arranged for the grandparents like resistance game, fun with robo, the number game, catch them all, the opposite game, charade etc. Grandparents enjoyed playing games with their grandchildren. The MC for the day Ms.Aswathi and Ms. Nita. Ms. Sreeja proposed the vote of thanks and concluded the programme. INVESTITURE CEREMONY (3.10.2019) Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life. To inculcate the leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of functioning of the administrative body, school prefectorial board was formed after scrutinous interviewing and election. The investiture ceremony for the academic year 2019-2020 was held on 3.10.2019. the chief guest for the event was Mr.Rishal, Managing Director, Sherlon Mattresses along with MD of ALR Mr, Naeem T.P and Mr.Anis M.K Principal, Ryan International School. The ceremony began with prayer by school choir. The march by all the students’ council members’ was a spectacular event which set mood for the event. This was followed by badging ceremony of newly inducted student’s council members. The oath taking ceremony was led by Mr.Anis M.K Principal, Ryan International School. He inspired and encouraged elected leaders to be dutiful and responsible. Welcome speech was given by Ms.Bindhu Vinod, Headmistress, Ryan International School. Hearty welcome was given to the guests. Introductory remarks were given by Mr.Anis M.K Principal. He wished the student leaders in completing responsibilities entrusted to them. His word of advice were highly motivating to the students. This was followed by parent’s orientation. Principal Mr.Anis M.K welcomes the parents. He shared school vision, the curriculum, school systems, teaching methodologies and co-scholastic activities. He laid stress on effective communication between the teachers and the parents and also sought their support and suggestions so that the best could be done for the overall development of the students.
