CREA September 2015 North Amazon Peru This program ran through the North coast into the Amazon rainforest of Peru. Our adventure involved outdoor dynamics that challenged our limits and gave us a travel experience that improved our development as individuals and as a team working together to fulfill a social service goal During this particular jungle adventure, we worked with the “Centro de Rescate Amazónico” (CREA) , a part of the Iquitos Foundation in the province of Loreto, Peru. The Amazon Rescue Center is the “result of a united effort among institutions like "The Dallas World Aquarium", "Dirección Regional de la Producción de Loreto", "Instituto de Investigaciones de la Amazonía Peruana" and "Acobia-DWAzoo"; with the purpose to develop rescue, recovering and release programs of aquatic mammals and wild fauna in Loreto, supported by an environmental education program, contributing to the conservation of these species and their ecosystems”. This unique experience in the jungle includes active participation at the rescue center, and field education within different isolated communities to help communities understand WHY it is so important to protect and conserve the natural environment around the Amazon river.
