Question 2 - Since 2010/11 how many for e ign nationals serving life sentences (or intermediate sentences for public protection) have been transferred from UK prisons - under Prisoner Transfer Agreements - to their home countries? Question 3 - Of these (see Q2) how many have been tran sfe rred t o A l bania? Your request continues to be handled under the FOIA. In our response to you dated 11 August 2020 we were unable to obtain all of the information requested as earlier records are kept in the office and not electronically T his caused de lay s unti l t h e work at home directive had been completely lifted. I can confirm that the MoJ holds the information that you have requested , and I have provided it below and attached. Question 1 Please s ee attached “ FOI 20073006 - Annex A ” Qu estion 2 Si nce Ja n uar y 2011 , 1 25 prisoners serving l ife or i ndeterminate sentences have been transferred from England and Wales * , to their home countries , to serve the remainder of their sentences. *HMPPS is o nly responsible for prisons in England an d Wales. 2 Que sti on 3 Of the 125 pr isoners transferred , 11 were Albanian nationals. We are abs olutely committed to removing Foreign National Offenders who have no right to remain in the United Kingdom. W e will cont inue to work clo sely with international governments to in crease the number o f prisoners deported.
