User Guide Digital Electronic Cabinet Lock Model KR-120M NOTE: Please read this entire User Guide very carefully before using the lock and keep the guide in a safe place for future reference. Thank you! 1 Section 1: Product Overview Front Lock Panel: **See warnings below regarding use of Override Key 2 View of Lock Rear Panel: Lock Installation Diagram: Section 2: Specifications Battery: requires one “CR2032” 3-Volt button cell battery (Included) Battery Life: >5,000 cycles or approximately 1 year in stand-by mode Working Temperature Range: 5° F (-15℃) to 149 ° F (+65℃) Working Humidity Range: 5% - 95% 3 Section 3: Operation IMPORTANT NOTICE! BEFORE attempting to program any codes for the lock, please carefully read the following information: • 1 Reset Code • 15 User Codes (entry only) • 2 Mechanical Override Keys A) Getting Started [1234][OK] is the factory default User Code To unlock the Tool Chest: • Enter a valid 4-digit code plus [OK] on the keypad, the lock will make a long beep sound, the green light will flash, and the digital lock’s turn-knob will immediately unlock and remain unlocked. • Turn the digital lock turn knob clockwise 90 degrees to disengage the Tool Chest’s mechanical lock system. Note: the turn-knob will be in the vertical position. • The Mechanical Override Key may also be used to unlock the tool chest when the turn-knob is in the locked state. Warning! The Mechanical Override Key can only be used as an emergency override to unlock the Tool Chest. The key can not be removed from the knob after turning 90 degrees. Forcibly removing the key will damage the lock and void the warranty. To lock the Tool Chest, • Ensure the drawers and chest lid are completely closed. • Turn the digital lock knob counterclockwise 90 degrees to engage the Tool Chest’s mechanical lock system. Note: the turn knob will be in the horizontal position. • Ensure all the drawers and lid are secured and locked. • Enter a valid 4-digit code plus [OK] on the keypad, the lock will make a long beep sound, the green light will flash, and the turn-knob will now be in the locked state. 4 B) Programming Your Digital Lock A valid code is 4 digits plus the [OK] button. Be sure to test the lock to ensure proper working order before programming the codes. It is recommended that all codes be prepared in advance for reference while programming the initial lock codes. Store these codes in a secure location for future reference after the initial lock programming is completed. Reset Code Use of the Reset Code overrides and erases all of the User Codes and restores the lock back to the factory default User Code [1234][OK]. The Reset Code consists of 4 digits plus the [OK] button. You will need to reprogram your User Codes thereafter. For this reason, it is recommended to program your Reset Code before programming your User Codes. • [2222][OK] is the factory default Reset Code. • Please change your Reset Code immediately after initial use, following the directions given in this manual. • Record your new Reset Code in a secure location for future reference. To Change Reset Code: • Input [OK] [OK] [2] [OK] on the keypad. GREEN light blinks. • Input [OLD Reset Code] and [OK] on the keypad. • Input [NEW Reset Code] and [OK] to change the code successfully. Note: The Reset Code can be restored back to the factory default code [2222] by using the Lock Reset Button on the rear of the lock. See Section 5 – Lock Reset Button. User Code User Codes provide entry only. Up to 15 User Codes can be programmed. • [1234][OK] is the factory default User Code. • Please change the User Code to your preferred 4-digit code immediately after you have finished assembly of the tool chest and programmed the Reset Code. • Record the User Code in a secure location for future reference. To Set the 1st User Code • Input [OK] [OK] [1] [OK] on the keypad. GREEN light blinks. 5 • Input [Default User Code] and [OK] on the keypad. • Input [NEW User Code] and [OK] to change the code successfully. • A long beep will sound and the light will flash green for a couple seconds. To Set 2nd – 15th User Code • Input [OK] [OK] [1] [1] [OK] on the keypad. GREEN light blinks. • Input [Reset Code] and [OK] on the keypad. Note: This step will not reset or erase any codes. • Input [User Code] and [OK] to add the code successfully. • A long beep will sound and the light will flash green for a couple of seconds. To Change Programmed User Codes • Input [OK] [OK] [1] [OK] on the keypad. GREEN light blinks. • Input [OLD User Code] and [OK] on the keypad. • Input [NEW User Code] and [OK] to change the code successfully. • A long beep will sound and the light will flash green for a couple seconds. C) Mechanical Override Key The Mechanical Override Key should not be used to as the primary way to lock/unlock the Tool chest. The Key should only be used to temporarily override the lock IF the either of the following happens: 1. The lock loses power and the turn-knob is in the locked state. -OR- 2. The access codes are lost or forgotten, and the turn-knob is in the locked state. • Insert the Key into the Lock’s turn-knob and turn clockwise 90 degrees to unlock the Tool Chest drawers. • The Key will be in the vertical position and can not be removed. Forcibly removing the key will damage the lock and void the warranty. • If the lock has lost power, then follow the instructions in Section 6D – Lock Has no Power. • If the access codes are forgotten, then follow the instructions in Section 5 - Lock Reset. • Once the lock is energized or reset, then turn the key counterclockwise 90 degrees back to the horizontal position in order to remove the Key. The turn-knob will be in the locked state. D) Code Protection You can input any random string of numbers including the [ * ] button directly before and/or after entering the correct user code to engage the lock as long as the correct 4- digit user code is entered sequentially. • This step can be done for added security if you do not want a by-stander to watch you enter the lock code. 6 • This code protection should be less than 20 digits in all—but it has to contain the string of numbers in your User Code in its exact order. • For example, if your user code is [1234][OK] and you wish to use the code protection, you can enter any random pattern of numbers such as [2513*][1234][6*52][OK] to engage the lock. Section 4: Indicator Sounds and Lights • A short beep will sound when each key is pressed and the light will flash green. • Correct Code: A long beep will sound and the light will blink green. • Incorrect Code: 3 short beeps will sound and the light will blink red. • Successful programming of access code: a long beep will sound and the light will blink green. • Lock reset: 2 short beeps will sound and the light will blink green. • Low Battery: 6 short beeps will sound and the light will blink blue. Section 5: Lock Reset Button The Lock Reset button erases all User codes and the Reset Code and restores them to the factory default codes listed in Section 3 - Operation. • To enable the Lock Reset function, the lock must have power. • Remove the top drawer of the Tool Chest to gain access to the rear of the lock. • Press the [OK] button on the keypad. • Using the tip of a pen or similar, locate and press the Reset button on the back of the lock for 2 seconds until it sounds with 2 short beeps. The light will blink green after the successful reset. • Test the lock using the factory default User code [1234][OK]. Lock Reset Button 7 Section 6: Troubleshooting A) Forgot the User Code • Use the Reset Code to unlock. o Lock returns to the factory default user code. o Program a new User Code. -OR- • Use the Mechanical Override Key to unlock the Tool Chest drawers. o Remove the top drawer so that you can access the rear of the lock. o Press the Reset button on the back side of the lock to restore to factory default codes. o Program a new Reset Code and User Code. B) Forgot the Reset Code • Use the Mechanical Override Key or the User Code to unlock the Tool Chest. o Remove the top drawer so that you can access the rear of the lock. o Press the Reset button on the back side of the lock to restore to factory default codes. o Program a new Reset Code and User Code. C) Lock has Low Power • When the battery power is beginning to get low, the keypad will still function; however, after the correct User Code is entered, you will hear 6 short beeps and a blue light will blink to alert you that the battery will need to be changed soon. • The lock will function up to 100 cycles after initiating the low power signals. D) Lock has No Power • RED light blinks, or no light blinks and no beep sound; keypad has no reaction. • Note: The turn-knob will remain in the same state as it was with power. For example, if the lock loses power when the turn-knob is in the locked state, then it will stay in the locked state. If turn-knob is unlocked when it loses power, then it will stay unlocked . • Open the battery compartment by carefully removing the two small screws and replace the old battery with a new “CR2032” 3V cell battery. • Replace the battery cover and screws. Be careful not to over-tighten the screws • Re-test the lock function. • You do not need to reprogram the Reset or User codes. The previous codes will remain once lock is energized. CAUTION: Please keep the battery and small screws out of the reach of children when changing the battery to avoid creating a choking or personal injury hazard. 8 Section 7: Care and Use / Warranty Information • Keep the keypad clear of dirt, grease, and solvents. • Use a damp cloth to wipe clean. • Do not spray with lubricants or oils. • Change the battery at least once a year See Operator’s Manual for warranty information on the KR-120M digital electronic cabinet lock.
