This book provides an update for the rapidly developing technology known as “optogenetics”, which is the use of genetically encoded light-sensitive molecular elements (usually derived from lower organisms) to control or report various physiological and biochemical processes within the cell. Two ongoing clinical trials use optogenetic tools for vision restoration, and optogenetic strategies have been suggested as novel therapies for several neurological, psychiatric and cardiac disorders. This Special Issue comprises two reviews and seven experimental papers on different types of light-sensitive modules widely used in optogenetic studies. These papers demonstrate the efficiency and versatility of optogenetics and are expected to be equally relevant for advanced users and beginners considering using optogenetic tools in their research.
This special collection assembles some of the most pre-eminent scholars in the field in African, African American, and American Studies to explore the ways writers reclaim the Black female body in African American literature using the theoretical, social, cultural, and religious frameworks of spirituality and religion. Central to these discussions is Black women’s agency within these realms—their uncanny ability to invent and reinvent themselves within individual and communal spaces that frame them as both outsider and insider, unworthy and worthy, deviant and sacred, excess and minimal. Scholars have sought to discuss these tensions, acknowledged and affirmed in prose, poetry, music, essays, speeches, written plays, or short stories. Forgiveness, healing, redemption, and reclamation provide entry into these vibrant explorations of self-discovery, passion, and self-creation that interrogate traditional views of what is spiritual and what is religious. Discussed writers include Toni Morrison, Phillis Wheatley, James Baldwin, Tina McElroy Ansa, Toni Cade Bambara, and Thomas Dorsey.

A well-designed business card can make a lasting impression and serve as a powerful marketing tool. Here are some tips and strategies to ensure the success of your business card design: 1. Keep it Simple: When it comes to business card design, less is often more. Avoid cluttering your card with excessive text or graphics. Instead, focus on conveying essential information such as your name, job title, contact details, and company logo in a clean and visually appealing layout. 2. Choose the Right Typography: Selecting the appropriate font styles and sizes is crucial for readability and visual appeal. Opt for clear, legible fonts that reflect your brand’s personality and complement the overall design of your card. Experiment with font weights, sizes, and spacing to create hierarchy and emphasis. 3. Pay Attention to Color: Color plays a significant role in branding and can evoke specific emotions or associations. Choose colors that align with your brand identity and resonate with your target audience. Consider using contrasting colors for text and background to ensure readability and visual impact. 4. Incorporate High-Quality Imagery: Including images or graphics can enhance the visual appeal of your business card design and reinforce your brand identity. Use high-resolution images or vector graphics to maintain clarity and sharpness, and ensure they are relevant to your business or industry. 5. Mind the Bleed and Margin: To prevent any design elements from getting cut off during printing, ensure your design includes a bleed area and sufficient margins. The bleed extends beyond the final trim size, while the margin provides space between the edge of the card and important design elements. 6. Utilize Special Finishes: Consider incorporating special finishes such as embossing, foil stamping, or spot UV coating to add texture, shine, and sophistication to your business card. These finishing touches can make your card stand out and leave a memorable impression on recipients. 7. Proofread and Review: Before finalizing your design, carefully proofread all text for spelling and grammatical errors. Additionally, review the layout, alignment, and overall aesthetics to ensure a polished and professional appearance. In conclusion, successful business card design requires attention to detail, creativity, and a thorough understanding of your brand identity and target audience. By following these tips and strategies, you can create a business card that effectively represents your brand, makes a memorable impression, and leaves a positive impact on potential clients and contacts.
