The volume contains the critical responses from the perspective of other legal systems to the propositions Helmut Koziol puts forward in 2012 in his book “Basic Questions of Tort Law from a Germanic Perspective”.These reports not only describe the legal situation in selected legal systems, but also give a critical response to the propositions developed in respect of the Germanic legal family. Moreover, they consider the possible incorporation or rejection of the said propositions into the legal systems.This study is not only intended to promote mutual understanding between the individual legal systems but also to provide a basis for them to gradually grow together by means of both the internal development of the national legal systems and supranational elaboration of bodies of rules. This Special Issue of Crystals contains papers focusing on various properties of conducting ceramics. Multiple aspects of both the research and application of this group of materials have been addressed. Conducting ceramics are the wide group of mostly oxide materials which play crucial roles in various technical applications, especially in the context of the harvesting and storage of energy. Without ion-conducting oxides, such as yttria-stabilized zirconia, doped ceria devices such as solid oxide fuel cells would not exist, not to mention the wide group of other ion conductors which can be applied in batteries or even electrolyzers, besides fuel cells. Long Night of the Tankers presents a fresh account of a lesser-known but critical component of the Atlantic naval theatre during World War II. Using war diaries, after-action reports, and first-hand accounts, authors Bercuson and Herwig examine the story behind Operation Neuland, the German plan to interrupt vital oil supplies from reaching the United States and the United Kingdom by preventing Allied oil tankers from leaving refineries in the Caribbean. The story begins in February 1942 and follows this German attempt to scuttle the Allied war machine through to the end of the war. Told largely from the German perspective, it details the planning and execution of the Germans and the diplomatic, political, and military responses of the Allies, particularly the United States, to overcome the German effort.

“Las TIC constituyen un punto de partida y en muchas ocasiones supondrán la diferencia entre la exclusión y la inclusión. Desde esta perspectiva, si no utilizamos tecnologías inclusivas en las aulas, es probable que estemos contribuyendo a dicha exclusión” (Soto, 2013, p. 14). El presente texto ofrece a la comunidad educativa varias experiencias relacionadas al uso de las tecnologías de información y comunicación como recurso de apoyo en la educación de estudiantes con discapacidad, experiencias que surgen como, resultado del proyecto de investigación denominado “Estudio de la Aplicabilidad del Enfoque Ecológico Funcional en la Educación de Estudiantes con Discapacidad en el Ecuador”, ejecutado por el Grupo de Investigación de Educación Inclusiva (GEI) de la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana del Ecuador entre enero de 2016 y junio de 2017. El mencionado proyecto se desarrolló en el marco del curso de formación continua de “Diseño Curricular desde una perspectiva ecológica funcional”, auspiciado por CBM Internacional en el que participaron docentes y directivos de instituciones educativas de todo el país que brindaron su aporte al proyecto como informantes directos y recogiendo información que permitió el análisis del estado de la situación educativa de los estudiantes con discapacidad en el país.

With the baby boomer generation reaching 65 years of age, attention in the medical field is turning to how best to meet the needs of this rapidly approaching, large population of geriatric individuals. Geriatric healthcare by nature is multi-dimensional, involving medical, educational, social, cultural, religious and economic factors. The chapters in this book illustrate the complex interplay of these factors in the development, management and treatment of geriatric patients, and begin by examining sarcopenia, cognitive decline and dysphagia as important factors involved in frailty syndrome. This is followed by strategies to increase healthspan and lifespan, such as exercise, nutrition and immunization, as well as how physical, psychological and socio-cultural changes impact learning in the elderly. The final chapters of the book examine end of life issues for geriatric patients, including effective advocacy by patients and families for responsive care, attitudes toward autonomy and legal instruments, and the cost effectiveness of new health care technologies and services.

Natural products hold a prominent position in the current discovery and development of drugs and have diverse indications for both human and animal health. Plants, in particular, play a leading role as a source of specialized metabolites with medical effects. Other organisms, such as marine and terrestrial animals and microorganisms, produce very important drug candidate molecules. Specialized metabolites from these varied natural sources can be used directly as bioactive compounds or drug precursors. In addition, due to their broad chemical diversity, they can act as drug prototypes and/or be used as pharmacological tools for different targets. Some examples of natural metabolites that have been developed into useful medical drug are cardiotonic digoxin from Digitalis sp., antimalarial artemisinin from Artemisia annua, anti-cancer taxol from Taxus sp., or podophyllotoxin from Podophyllum peltatum, which served as a synthetic model for the anti-cancer etoposide. The study of natural products is still attracting great scientific attention and their current importance, as a valuable lead for drug discovery, is undebatable. I cordially invite authors to contribute original articles, as well as survey articles, that give the readers of Molecules **MOLECULES NEEDS TO BE ITALICIZED** updated and new perspectives on natural products in drug discovery, including but not limited to natural sources, identification and separation of bioactive phytochemicals, standardization, new biological targets, pre-clinical and clinical trials, pharmacological effects/side effects, and bioassays.
