Open access can accelerate research in every field and language. But first we must implement it. We're in the best position to implement open access when we know what it is, what it's not, why it's beneficial, how to deliver it, how to draft policies assuring it, and how to answer frequently heard questions, objections, and misunderstandings. This book is designed to fill that need. My highest hope for this book is that it will foster the growth of open access in every field and language. For this purpose, making the book itself open access was an important step, but did not go far enough. The next step is to supplement open access with translation.
