Open access can accelerate research in every field and language. But first we must implement it. We're in the best position to implement open access when we know what it is, what it's not, why it's beneficial, how to deliver it, how to draft policies assuring it, and how to answer frequently heard questions, objections, and misunderstandings. This book is designed to fill that need. My highest hope for this book is that it will foster the growth of open access in every field and language. For this purpose, making the book itself open access was an important step, but did not go far enough. The next step is to supplement open access with translation.

The ANZUS Alliance was a defence arrangement between Australia, New Zealand and the United States that shaped international policy in the aftermath of the Second World War and the early stages of the Cold War. Forged by influential individuals and impacting on global events including the Japanese Peace Treaty, the Korean War and the Suez Crisis, the ANZUS Alliance was a crucial factor in the seismic changes that took place in the second half of the twentieth century. In this compact and accessible study Andrew Kelly lays out the tensions that underpinned the formation of the Alliance, as each power sought to extract maximum influence and prestige, and examines how the ANZUS powers worked together (or failed to do so) when responding to massive global events including the rise of the People’s Republic of China and the waning of the British Empire. "Manuel des Droits de l'Homme et à l'Eau Potable et à l'Assainissement à l’intention des Praticiens is the French translation of Manual on the Human Rights to Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation for Practitioners. The Manual highlights the human rights principles and criteria in relation to drinking water and sanitation. It explains the international legal obligations in terms of operational policies and practice that will support the progressive realisation of universal access.

The Manual introduces a human rights perspective that will add value to informed decision making in the daily routine of operators, managers and regulators. It also encourages its readership to engage actively in national dialogues where the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation are translated into national and local policies, laws and regulations. Creating such an enabling environment is, in fact, only the first step in the process towards progressive realisation. Allocation of roles and responsibilities is the next step, in an updated institutional and operational set up that helps apply a human rights lens to the process of reviewing and revising the essential functions of operators, service providers and regulators.
