This collection of essays investigates elements of the human voice and performance, and their implications for gender and sexuality. The chapters address affect, pleasure, and memory in the enjoyment of musical and theatrical performance. Rosenberg also examines contemporary feminist performance, anti-racist interventions, activist aesthetics, and political agency especially with regard to feminist and queer interpretations of opera and theatre. She contextualizes her work within broader developments in gender and queer studies, and within the feminist movement by highlighting important contributions of artists who draw from the above to create performance. The book will be welcomed by opera and theatre lovers, students, academics, and the wider public that is interested in the performing arts and its queer feminist potential.

Aufbauend auf der Analyse des Reformbedarfs zu Beginn der Transformationsprozesse in Mittel- und Osteuropa untersucht die Arbeit anhand von zwei Modellrahmen die Rolle der Wechselkurspolitik beim Übergang zur Marktwirtschaft. Es wird gezeigt, daß die Wahl des optimalen Wechselkurssystems von der relativen Gewichtung der beiden Zielsetzungen «Aufrechterhaltung der internationalen Wettbewerbsfähigkeit» und «makroökonomische Stabilisierung» sowie dem Offenheitsgrad der Volkswirtschaft abhängt. Den Ergebnissen der theoretischen Analyse werden die Erfahrungen der zehn mittel- und osteuropäischen EU-Beitrittskandidaten gegenübergestellt. Ein Ausblick behandelt die wechselkurspolitischen Herausforderungen, die sich für diese Länder aus einer EU-Mitgliedschaft ergeben.

Many efforts have been undertaken to address dysfunctional security sector governance in West Africa. However, security sector reform (SSR) has fallen short of radical transformational change to the fundamental structures of power and governance in the region. Looking more closely at specific examples of SSR in six West African countries, Learning from West African Experiences in Security Sector Governance explores both progress and reversals in efforts by national stakeholders and their international partners to positively influence security sector governance dynamics. Written by eminent national experts based on their personal experiences of these reform contexts, this study offers new insights and practical lessons that should inform processes to improve democratic security sector governance in West Africa and beyond. This study analyses legal barriers to data sharing in the context of the Open Research Data Pilot, which the European Commission is running within its research framework programme Horizon2020. In the first part of the study, data protection issues are analysed. The main focus is on the Data Protection Directive (95/46/EC) and its implementation in selected EU Member States. Additionally, the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679/EU) and relevant changes are described. Special focus is placed on leading data protection principles. Next, the study describes the use of research data in the Open Research Data Pilot and how data protection principles influence such use. The experiences of the European Commission in running the Open Research Data Pilot so far, as well as basic examples of repository use forms, are considered. The second part of the study analyses the extent to which legislation on public sector information (PSI) influences access to and re-use of research data. The PSI Directive (2003/98/EC) and the impact of its revision in 2013 (2013/37/EU) are described. There is a special focus on the application of PSI legislation to public libraries, including university and research libraries, and its practical implications.
