Petrus P h i losophicus The Philosopher’s Stone, a legendary substance touted by ancient scholars and chemists as being able to transform anything it comes into contact with. The ultimate catalyst that is said to have the power to turn lead into gold...but what is it r eally? Modern science would have us believe such accusations are nothing, but a medieval pipe dream born from a time of pseudoscientific ignorance It is represented by the symbol on the cover of this book. A symbol that first appeared on paper in the 17th century just after the invention of the printing press. However variations of this symbol have existed for almost all of recorded history. " The Squared Circle: an alchemical symbol (17th century) illustrating the interplay of the four elements of matter symbolizing the philosopher's stone " - Wikipedia This mythological object was said to have several properties. First that it could transform or “transmute” some elements into others. Going so far as to claim that it could turn lesser metals such as lead into gold. One of its other properties was multiplication, that it could multiply certain substances and that included itself with the right process. It was viewed as the ultimate catalyst in those times. Here is a little more info to familiarize yourself with alchemy for those of you who are unaware: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alchemy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosopher's_stone https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiplication_(alchemy) " Multiplication is the process in Western alchemy used to increase the potency of the philosopher's stone , elixir or projection powder. " This symbol and the legendary substance have remained an unsolved mystery. The modern world dismissing such a notion as wishful thinking. The world of chemistry has long dismissed the idea of such a thing existing in a chemical sense. However upon closer investigation of the symbol and the principles it represents I was able to uncover something much deeper than a single miracle chemical. I have spent over a decade going through occult and esoteric texts and books in search of something that was real and applicable in our modern world. Something the modern scientific mind had yet to tear apart with brutal logic and rationalism. This symbol is the only thing I found that went beyond our current understanding of not only nature but geometry. It is something truly advanced that comes from ancient times. I am going to attempt to summarize countless tomes about alchemy, hermetic, sacred geometry and ancient symbolism and purify out the usable and applicable knowledge hidden within those teachings. I will include some sources in the back of the book but for the most part if you are interested in these subjects simply seek them out. Many books are available and some very well - done videos. In this book we are going to open up a much wider understanding of our ancient ancestors and their views on nature, geometry and mathematics For those of you not well versed in such subjects fear not. It is a small part and explained simply and easily, the other examples will be primarily physical. One of the main problems with such a symbol is the interpretive nature of it. Many interpret such things in a spiritual manner, however, in this book we will be taking a purely rational and scientific approach to this subject. First , we will go over what ancient peoples called sacred geometry or in a modern understanding the underlying symmetrical structuring of the universe which typically unfolds in geometric shapes and is expressed on the micro and macroscopic levels in a fractal repeating pattern of symmetry. To these ancient people such advanced mathematics were held as sacred. Second , we will talk about the metaphorical language of our ancient ancestors and their mastering of symbology which they used to apply such concepts to the real world. At the end of this book, I hope you will have a deep understanding of ancient mans mindset and the symbology that was used in those times. Lastly , we will talk about the ancient art of Alchemy and the symbol on the cover of this book. Alchemy was the precursor o f chemistry but as we will see actually surpasses its modern counterpart in some aspects by incorporating geometry and several other aspects into its "mixtures". The symbol of the Philopsher’s Stone is actually a universal, geometric tool or blueprint for transformation which the Alchemists called transmutation. This "stone" is not actually a singular thing, but a geometric metaphorical template represented in symbolic form. One of the more curious things I found about it was that it does indeed multiply itself, metaphorically. Once you figure out the template and one way to apply it, it allows you to see it in other things around you. In the following pages we will see how it was used historically and how you can potentially use it yourself. This will not be a spiritual or internal usage (though it is very applicable), we will be using real physical examples of it in action as proof of concept. Just as you can create many kinds of buildings with real stone, you can do the same thing conceptually with the “Philosopher’s Stone. We will start with what sacred geometry is in a general sense the natural structure that matter, and energy follow in the universe. The nature symmetry of the universe. Modern science recognizes this and describes it thusly: “ A decade after the discovery of the “amplituhedron,” physicists have excavated more of the timeless geometry underlying the standard picture of how particles move.” - https://www.quantamagazine.org/physicists - reveal - a - quantum - geometry - that - exists - outside - of - space - and - time - 20240925/ “Amplituhedron theory challenges the notion that space - time locality and unitarity are necessary components of a model of particle interactions. Instead, they are treated as properties that emerge from an underlying phenomenon.” - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amplituhedron Let us begin. The Circle The circle is our entryway into sacred geometry, it is where we begin as it is conceptually the simplest shape geometrically. Meaning that it can be viewed as a single line bent around and connected to itself with no points or angles. However, it also is the most complex shape geometrically. If you were to keep adding symmetrical points that don’t overlap around a geometric shape eventually all the points would touch and form a circle. If we start at the triangle and keep multiplying points symmetrically from the center of the shape and don’t allow the points to overlap while spinning it, we end up with a circle eventually. ( This is a better example than the pic above) https://imgur.com/xQDV6LP It is conceptually speaking the beginning of shapes (1 line bent) and the end of all shapes (non - overlapping symmetrical points). In some teachings it is expressed as the alpha and the omega, the monad to others, referred to as the one in some esoteric teachings, we will see it can also represent duality, or a cycle , beginning and end and historically speaking was even used to represent time itself. A good example of this being analog clocks or sundials are circles. This works because our concept of time mostly goes by the sun coming up and going down every day in a cycle around a globe or sphere (3D circle). The sun and moon in a sense form a duality symbolically, both are circles and they seemingly circle the globe from an earth centric view point. You can see the sun and moon forming a duality or cycle (representing symbolically night and day). The clock hands going around the earth and time, cycles, duality and in a way geometry all represented at the same time with a “simple” shape. Historically this would be represent ed as a snake eating its own tail and forming a circle. The head and tail form a duality and the circle representing time or the process of eating itself. This symbol was called the Oroborus. Let’s take a look at what we have gone over objectively so far from a numerical point of view. In this way with the circle, we started at 1 or the monad, then separated it into a cycle (beginning and end/duality) or 2. 1 became 2. In the next section our 2 will become 3. Let us continue with this section first. Let's continue on with the circle first. In this book we will be looking at the sacred geomet ric aspects of these shapes and their alchemical, metaphorical interpretations. The alchemists relied heavily on metaphors to keep their formulas safe and secret and were masters of that ancient symbolic language. A prime ... example of this would be the various representations of the “Prima Materia” or starting substance used in the philosopher’s stone symbol. Which is what the circle represents in alchemy, another aspect to the circle in regards to interpretation ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prima_materia ) Names assigned to the Prima Materia in Ruland's 1612 alchemical dictionary, Lexicon alchemiae sive dictionarium alchemistarum.[9] Microcosmos The Philosophical Stone The Eagle Stone Water of Life Venom Poison Chamber Spirit Medicine Heaven Clouds Nebula or Fog Dew Shade Moon Stella Signata and Lucifer Permanent Water Fiery and Burning Water Salt of Nitre and Saltpetre Lye Bride, Spouse, Mother, Eve Pure and Uncontaminated Virgin Milk of Virgin, or the Fig Boiling Milk Honey A Spiritual Blood Bath A Syrup Vinegar Lead Tin Sulphur of Nature Spittle of the Moon Ore The Serpent The Dragon Marble, Crystal, Glass Scottish Gem Urine Magnesia Magnet White Ethesia White Moisture White Smoke Dung Metallic Entity Mercury The Soul and Heaven of the Elements The Matter of all Forms Tartar of the Philosophers Dissolved Refuse The Rainbow Indian Gold Heart of the Sun Chaos Venus Healer It is this gift for metaphor that we will be investigating, learning about and expanding upon in this book. Something that has real world applications and will be demonstrated using physical examples in the following sections. This is the beginning of our metaphorical journey into understanding this ancient symbolism and ultimately the philosopher’s stone symbol. We are going to see in the following pages all the metaphorical ways you can apply this circle and the other sacred geometric shapes and what they can represent or mean...Then we are going to combine all of these sacred shapes to create a formula which occurs naturally and is nature’s geometric template to produce transformation. Transformation being what the philosopher’s stone symbolizes, a catalyst no matter the medium of its application... The Triangle Excluding the circle, the triangle is the simplest geometric two - dimensional shape that can be made. By that I mean without bending the lines you need at least three lines to create a geometric shape. The simplest of these we call a triangle, it is the geometric representation of the number 3 in this sense. If you are familiar with “occult” or “esoteric” teachings, then you will recognize that 3 is a “sacred” number that comes up a lot. For these reasons it is often referred to as the number of balance by many ancient religions and philosophies. In the ancient art of Alchemy (which later became chemistry) the Alchemists viewed all things as being made of three fundamental parts that said thing could be broken down into. They referred to these parts metaphorically and sometimes literally as the “Salt, Sulfur and Mercury” of a material or plant etc. Knowledge, they gained from nature and breaking down substances in Hermetically seal containers. Take a plant for instance, place it into a hermetically sealed container (a term that comes directly from alchemy) and then apply heat to it and it will indeed separate into three basic parts. The physical matter of the plant, the ethanol or liquid inside it and then the salts or crystals within it float upwards in stick to the top of the container. Another way to interpret this is Mind, Body and Spirit. For instance, the body of the plant would be the physical matter, the mind would be the salts that rise to the top and the spirit would be the ethanol. This is actually where the term “Spirits” used to refer to certain alcohol came from as ethanol which is an alcohol. In this section I am going to lay out a few nature triangles or trinities to further prove this point. The paper below is a exception example of this, it demonstrates that through the triangle may types of equations and formulas can be laid out. We can even apply it to electricity using OHM’s Law Which is used in the electrical field for voltage and current calculations. Or use it for the three - step process of a Wankel Rotary Engine. A machine that transforms matter into movement or energy. Let see if this pattern keeps holding up on the micro - scale or the “atomic” and “quantum” levels. Atoms are typically surrounded by three distinct semi - theoretical atomic bodies Now let’s delve a little deeper into the realm physics to see if the pattern persists. This is a Quark. “ A proton is composed of two up quarks , one down quark , and the gluons that mediate the forces "binding" them together. The color assignment of individual quarks is arbitrary, but all three colors must be present; red, blue and green are used as an analogy to the primary colors that together produce a white color. ” We can even look at how the eye functions and find this balance with the colors it is able to perceive. With t he three primary colors of human vision Substitute green for yellow and we have the three primary colors for mixing paint. What do animals and plants both need to survive and grow? (Replace food and air with gas and soil and it’s the same system for plants) The three major complex forms of life. It should be noted that science now recognizes several other branches of life in the microbiome that fall outside of these three kingdoms as of this writing. These, however, are the major three we see in nature for complex life that goes beyond the microsphere of existence. We could even substitute the above trinity with good, neutral and evil for the same effect morally. All of our examples so far have been physical so let’s try a conceptual version to see if the geometry holds up in the realm of thought. Allow me to explain. You need a t least these three things conceptually to solve a problem , complete a task or overcome some obstacle, etc Power to accomplish what you need to W isdom to know what you need to do C ourage to actually go through with it. Another way to interpret this would be the classic “mind, body, spirit”. Mind being wisdom (what you think), power being body (your physical strength) and spirit being courage (how you feel). We will stop here but there are many more of these triangles or trinities found in nature. As you can see it is a natural geometric underpinning in the universe for balance. It is the natural way things unfold and even out represented as a shape. The number and shape of balance, 3. The 4 Elements The four elements are the four fundamental elemental forces that ancient peoples believed everything to be composed of. Traditionally and in Alchemy they are Earth, Water, Air and Fire which are often represented as triangles of various configurations. These four “elements” are not elements on the physical periodic table of elements but rather general characteristics of the universe. Just like the shapes we went over in the previous sections they too have various meanings, applications and representations. For the purpose of this overall explanation the alchemical symbols that represent them are what we will focus on. The four triangles that represent them make up the corners of the “squared circle” within the philosopher’s stone symbol. These elements form a hierarchy and duality depending on how you align them which I will demonstrate. This first explanation will be the vertical alignment, the idea being that earth and fire are bottom and top of a duality. Earth being matter and fire being energy but overall making up one thing or...circle. Another interpretation of matter and energy would be time and space or space/time...which science and physics recognizes as a single sort of substance or a duality that makes up a metaphorical “circle”.
