The Highliners Select Book Sea to Sky: Edition 1 2022 is being offered to the community free of charge: we are honestly honoured to be able to provide this information to everyone we can for free. That said, the lines established across the Sea to Sky and beyond keep on growing, and we want to be able to include information about more amazing spots, and do so in a more viable format for us highliners. So, with this GoFundMe, we are asking for donations towards the product you are using here, to be used for a fully built-out, printed hard copy version of the Highliner Select Book, including new lines across farther geographical locations and with added information. Donations from this GoFundMe will go directly to costs of adding to, improving on, printing and distributing the book. If you have any questions about the matter, please do not hesitate to contact us. I N T R O & U S I N G T H E G U I D E 1 P R I N T E D V E R S I O N . . . This book is the first edition of the Sea to Sky Highliners Select Book. The book is to act as a guide to established highlines from Whistler to the Coquihalla Summit. The guide organizes some of our more established highlining spots and describes the access to them, gear needed for them, and much more. This book is not to act as a comprehensive list. The highlining community across BC keeps growing everyday...and this means keeping track of all the established lines is very difficult without the communities' help. This guide was built by the community, for the community, as a start. The fact that a line is described in this book is not a representation that it is necessarily safe for you, nor does the description list every possible hazard you may confront. Experience gained through competent field instruction offered by your community should be your primary resource. A good working knowledge of highlining practices is required to judge the condition of anchors. Participants in these activities must employ appropriate levels of highlining knowledge and common sense. Though we encourage the highest of safety standards participants must take personal responsibilities for their actions and involvement in these activities at all times. It is therefore our duty to ensure that when we leave, the places we have been allowed to visit are left with no trace of us having been there Never underestimate the importance of buddy checks. Checking one another's equipment and knots as common practice helps keep ourselves and the entire community safe. Think before installing bolts and always rig naturally if you can. There are so many of us in the sport now, and there will be more to come. To retain the beauty of the sport and our environment we need to be mindful and light handed in placing permanent gear. Be diligent in safe rigging practices and while using Protective Equipment. Avoid becoming complacent and always take action to keep yourself and everyone in the community safe. The longevity of BC's trees is one of our community's top priorities. Whether it be in the park or on the anchor of highlines; we must make sure to always add adequate protection to the environment we are visiting.
