August 2019 Confidentiality Policy Purpose The school’s work with children and families will sometimes bring us in to contact with confidential information. To ensure that all those using and working in the school can do so with confidence, we will respect confid entiality in the following ways: Policy Statement Parents/guardians will have ready access to the files and records of their own children but will not have access to information about other children. Staff will not discuss individual children, other than for purpose of curriculum planning/group management, with people other than the parents/guardians of that child. Information given by parents/guardians to the school manager will not be passed on to any other person without permission. Issues to do with t he employment of staff, whether paid or unpaid, will remain confidential to the people directly involved with making personnel decision. Any anxieties/evidence relating to a child’s personal safety will be kept in a confidential file and will not be shared within the group except under special circumstances. All students*, helpers * and visitors will be advised of the school confidentiality policy and that they are required to follow the policy. * Students will have an induction form to complete with a mem ber of staff which includes confidentiality information. This is completed before the student starts placement at the setting. Helpers and visitors will need to sign the visitors book and a brief explanation of confidentiality will be explained
