ZOMBICIDE 1917 For this project we had as goal to be the most historically correct we could so the descent into fantastic universe elements would make a good contrast with the surrounding . The team members . -Gael Julianov Denisovitch : I'm 34 years old and have worked on planty interesting project during the time I worked in studio . I worked 4 years as environnement designer for CSG world . Worked 4 years on a studio made by my good long time friend Paul Nguyen on a game project based on his roleplaying game . I've worked 2 years at Bethesda game studio as a 3D texturer however it wasn't exactly the job I enjoyed the most . The top tier job I had was sound designer at Visceral Games during the production of the remastered version of Dead space 2 . We'll see what the future will be made of but I think about slowing a bit the video game work and go back a little to art . - Dylan Mcgellagan, I'm 28, I work as a gameplay programmer at Insomniac Games, a childhood dream that I realized and what surprised me the most about this company is that by talk ing with programmer friends the fact that when releasing a new one there is a rush where they all w ork really hard like almost 45h in a week or so while I was in my company when releasing Ratchet and Clank rift. Also, I worked with such a well organized team that we didn't have a rush a lot of stress the game worked really well without wanting to congrate ourself at us but it was more enjoyable I hope to work with them again. - Lancelot Howardson Lucas : I'm a 30 years old franco-british game designer, i'm a newcomer in the studio, having done indie work and freelance work before this, with american, chinese and japanese studios, This is my first time working in a team like this as a full staff member. I'm a writer and planner in this project, but I have experiences in QA testing, writing, planning and a few one in level design, my two last job being assistant third party planner on an update on the team fortress 2 game and QA tester leader at Arkane Studio for an un-announced project. I'm much more experienced in video games than board games, but in the end, the experience isn't very different, especially as we are also planning to release a digital version of the game. I do not know what future hold for the industry, but i'll always make my best working in it. Background : This extension of zombicide is taking place during the events of WW1 especially durin year 1917 in the western front . During an especially violent bombing an ancient crypt was discovered . Some soldiers taking shelter from the bombing inside this medieval time underground found an artefact which , when it came in contact with a soldier unleashed the wrath of the souls of those killed in witchery trials . The soldier became the vessel of those vengeful spirits and turned into what will be known under the name of the "Possessed". The Possessed began rising the deads into and army of unholy walking corpses with the plan of killing the living as revenge for the dead of the past and those of the present . Some survivors gathered on the battlefield and decided to fight the undead soldier and to find the source of the curse then to destroy it . The survivors : -Sir William of Water-end : -british officier , a 47 years old white man with a short and classy grizzled haircut a clean mustache he frequently gaze severly for no specific reason which combined with his strong jaw gives him a "vilain" look he also have a slightly athletic physic and is medium size. He had been there since 1916 and is a capitain of the British army . Those unholy creatures that recently showed up won't cause threat to the british empire as he says "if I kill them first" . -Elise Marchand : -french communication agent , a 26 years old white women with mid long haircut , redhaired she wears a cute face if we don't consider the burn on the right part of her face beside of that she have particularly soft facial features , her look is rather very neutral frequently disrupting those discusing with her , she is small and have a fine physic (thin and fine) . She is the daughter of a french Navy soldier and joined the army on one of the only roles she could , as communication agent . Right after the bombing the officier shelter she was on was attacked by undead soldiers , as the only survivor of the attack she got out to discover waves of undeads trying to kill her, but she won't let it be easy . -Fingal MacFargal : -scottish factory worker , a 61 years old white man with baldness on the top of the head his hairs and his sideburns are white he frequently stare at peoples with a full of emotion gaze , he is a short one but beside of that have a partially muscular partially fat body which make him look like he could move trees with his bare hands . After all of his sons have been enlisted he found that unfair and decided to take his sons back home , travelling to france and buying a shotgun to american deserters he found the place where his sons died , in a terrible battle, but it was not only that, this place was swarming with undead monstruosity . With a terrible anger he fight the undeads as a vengeance for his five sons death . -Markus Bergbewohner : -german Stosstrupper , a 39 years old white man with long black beard and hairs with a crazy and dangerous look sweating a mix of violence and fear he have rather bulky body settings and facial features making him frightening sometimes . He prviously was a miner at some coal mines in the south of Germany . As a violent man he found the war as an opportunity to express himself , joining the Stosstruppens he was a very efficient soldier until this battle where his battalion was dismembered by a fleeting abomination surronded by an unnatural light . Knowing he couldn't do anything against this devilish wraith . He fled for the first time in this war just to find other survivors ready to kill monsters which he joined with resoluteness . The zombies : All of our zombies are based on the ways of death causing the more casualities during the first world war . So their description may be short but it still give them a very strong concept following the global idea of our project . -The Shell Shocked Undead : -A soldier who have been traumatized by the bombing and now suffer the shell shock illness , his brocken mind have been twisted by the Possessed and is now an equivalent to zombie still being a living human . He wears an over terrified face like a theater mask . They are rather found hiding in the piles of corpses or acting like a corpse in the trenches turning him into a dangerous springtrap for heedless players . -The Barbed-wired Undead : -A soldier who have died bleeding in barbed wires lines , he is encased in the wires that killed him and now carry a great part of those behind him , turning him into a deadly walking war of body part and barbed wires, he don't directly attack the player but moove around the playfield with a line of "barbed wires" tiles that player nor zombie can pass without getting bleeding damages . -The Shrapnel Undead : -A soldier who died from the shrapnel during the bombing , this undead stab himself with metal part he finds around turning him into a sharpened walking tank . When killed his muscles contracts to the point of breaking projecting the metal part all around . He can be dangerous in many ways for players that would try to full melee the zombies . -The Gased Undead : -A soldier who died during a gas attack and who's body is now filled with a mix of red cross and mustard gas . His grotesque look is due to underskins gas poaches bloating all of his body . He projects a poisoneous area all around him that can harm players and also explode when killed into a vast cloud of gas that shroud the location of his death . -The Possessed: -A soldier who entered in contact with the inquisitorial artefact down the cryt , he is now in a sort of semi-god form and possessed by multiple entities trying to invocate something worse even . He is staying in the crypt continuing the ritual he will be the main threat opposing the player . He can use telekinesis and raise the deads to attack players he also have an immunity against melee attacks . The Tiles : The trench: -A tile depicting a trench , one of the most iconic place of the first world war . This is an especially dangerous place to walk around since you can easily get surrounded by enemis without any chance of avoiding them forcing you into a close combat brawl . The Noman's land : -A tile depicting the Noman's land , a place of desolation where there are only to be found , bodies , burned trees, barbed wires and rarely early tanks wrecks . This is the most common tiles in this extension to generate the idea of a vast battlefield . The ruined village: -A village destroyed by bombings, can be used to take temporarly shelter from the horde and also some buildings still have part of floors that survived the bombing which you can use to snipe the undeads . This is an uncommon place but generaly a most welcome one since you can also find material laying around ready to be picked . The Crypt: -The unholy place that should had come out of ground, a wicked place in which you can feel the hatred of the spirits filling it . This is the "boss room" the place where the Possessed continue his black-hearted incantations . Those corridors are a dangerous place because you don't see far in them and zombies can easily hide also they are thight and won't let you avoid zombies so you can as in the trench easily be surrounded by enemis and the boss . The main room is more spacious allowing the players to maneuver more easily during the bossfight . Weapons/items/powerup : -The camouflage : This is the power-up, if you are lucky you'll find a sniper camouflage suit into one of the inside carved tree used by snipers in the no man's land as hideout . This suit allows the player to be invisible to zombies when he don't moove if the zombie don't get on the same tile he stays on . -Lebel 1886 : A french army casual bolt action rifle containing up to 5 cartridges than are to be loaded one by one due to the uper part fed magazine system . It is one of the best ranged weapon available for players since it comes along with a scope . A good shot can easily overcome most kinds of zombies . -Bayonet: The most common WW1 close quarter combat weapon you'll use in all of the brawl against the undeads , it acts as a shortsword and so allows you to stay out of the zombie bitting range . -Mauser C96: This prussian semi automatic pistol containing up to 10 rounds is a good weapon choice for closed space when you still have to face a horde . His size allows a good maneuvrability and and his clip system allows players to reload very fast compared to the lebel . -Chauchat ( Mle 1915 CSRG) : This french light machine gun is the first of his kind with his 30 round clip it is a great choice for players who want to hold the line against the undeads however you have to be careful since it still is an important weapon and so will diminish your maneuvrability in closed spaces .
