WBHS Esports Charter v1 – 0 3 /2019 Westlake Boys High School Esports Charter As a Westlake student I will: • Enjoy playing sport, have fun and partake in healthy competition It is undeniable that a large percentage of Westlake Boys are already playing online games • Respect all officials, teammates, coaches, supporters and opponents Through our training and mentoring program, we aim to develop boys understanding of sportsmanship and the importance of respecting all participants all the time. We will work on strategies to build resilience, character and self - control • Commit to every training session, fixture and tournament that I am selected for We will expect commitment from the players as with any other sport • Play by the rules of my sport at all times We will be workin g within the regulations set out by the New Zealand Esports Federation (NZESF) which are passed down by the International eSports Federation (IeSF ) • Work as hard as I possibly can in everything I do We will work to develop a team orientated mindset in our players • Be punctual to every training session and fixture There will be a requirement for boys to turn up to training sessions at lunchtimes where we will be working on their team orientated mindset, resilience and character • Ensure I wear the apparel t hat I have been requested to wear We will be looking to develop an eSports uniform with guidance • Communicate directly with my coach if I am unable to attend fixtures or training During online tournaments, player substitution in only allowed under special c ircumstances. Communication is vital. • Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat Part of our character building and resilience program • Represent my school with the utmost pride, dignity, honesty and loyalty With the opportunity to compete at local, national and international (currently Australasia) level, we will need to trust our teams to behave appropriately. This will be a major focus in our training sessions as habit changes may need to be made when movin g from gaming at home to a public arena. • Never surrender (give up)
