POSITION DESCRIPTION Warrnambool & District Community Hospice Warrnambool & District Community Hospice (WDC Hospice) was established to support home-based care for people with a terminal or life limiting illness. Through our free Hospice in the Home service, trained volunteers provide practical and emotional support that complements palliative care services, reduces carer burnout, and helps prevent unnecessary admission to hospital and residential care. The organisation also has important role to play in educating the community about end-of-life care and planning. Our regular workshops and events are designed to build death literacy and help people better prepare for the final stage of life. Title Fundraising & Engagement Coordinator Primary Objective The Fundraising & Engagement Coordinator is key to the growth and establishment of relationships that will build the profile of WDC Hospice and contribute to its financial sustainability. It is a critically important role responsible for managing and implementing various fundraising, marketing and engagement initiatives targeting potential service users, individual donors, grant-makers, businesses, and the local community. Reports To The Fundraising & Engagement Coordinator directly reports to the Manager Location The position is based at Hospice House located within the Warrnambool campus of Deakin University. From time to time, work from home or other locations may be required or approved by the Manager. Hours 20 hours per week. Days and hours of work can be negotiated. Term The position is offered a contract with a term expiring on the 30 th of June, 2024. An extension may be offered subject to the availability of funding and the meeting of key performance indicators. A 3-month probationary period applies. Salary T he position is a Level 3 - pay point 1 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award with an annual salary of $67,263 (pro rata). Salary packaging of up to $15,900 a year is available. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Previous education and/or work experience relevant to the role. Extensive experience nurturing and developing relationships with key stakeholders. Able to confidently engage people in one-on-one and group situations. Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to produce a range of high-quality communications, content, and documents. Knowledge of marketing and communication tools with experience engaging audiences through social media. An organised approach to handling multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail. High level of computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office and online systems. Enthusiasm, capability, and flexibility to work within a small team that is passionate about the work of WDC Hospice and its impact in the community. Highly regarded (but not essential) : Previous fundraising or grant-writing experience. Knowledge or experience with graphic design. Other requirements: A Current Victorian Driver’s License National Police Check Working with Children check. CORE DUTIES Fundraising With guidance from the Manager, develop and implement an annual fundraising plan. Manage various fundraising programs designed to generate income for WDC Hospice including annual and regular giving, business partnerships, events, and bequest giving. Identify grant opportunities and prepare submissions to acquire funds from local, state, and national funding bodies in the government and private sectors. Establish and nurture relationships with existing and prospective donors and funders. Grow support for WDC Hospice through new fundraising activities and initiatives. Manage the processing, receipting and acknowledgement of donations. Maintain records to manage, track and analyse fundraising income and key relationships. Prepare a monthly fundraising report for the Committee of Management and any reports required as a condition of funding. Maintain and develop knowledge of fundraising practice and legislation affecting fundraising activities within the charitable sector. CORE DUTIES (CONTINUED) Engagement Coordinate and promote community engagement events and initiatives. Promote WDC Hospice, Hospice in the Home, and volunteer opportunities to key external stakeholder groups and the broader community. Produce marketing and communication materials, including a regular email newsletter. Maintain the organisation’s website and social media presence. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Implementation of programs and activities outlined in the annual fundraising plan Contribution to the development of fundraising strategy and planning The achievement of fundraising income targets The creation of opportunities for income growth Growth in the number of supporters across a diverse range of supporter groups Increased awareness of WDC Hospice in the community Promotion of WDC Hospice in line with the organisations vision, mission and values. Up to date knowledge of relevant fundraising practice and legislation.
