Overview The placement Cell (PC) at St Joseph's College Devagiri strives to act as a platform to assist the devagirians in finding an ideal place of work to fruitfully pursue their career interests. One of the major roles of the Placement Cell is to facilitate and counsel registered students through placement related activities round the year. PC Spearheaded by professionals with guidance from the Management and Faculty members will act as an interface between Institution and Organisations to find the best match between expectations of the recruiters and the aspirations of the students. Placement cell endeavours to provide equal employment opportunities for all the students, especially students from disadvantaged groups. The Placement Cell shall provide logistical and infrastructural support to visiting organisations to ensure a smooth end-to-end recruitment process. Placement Cell does not guarantee a job, rather it nourishes and grooms the students with right guidance to become job-ready through various programs to enhance communication skills and life skills, Orientation Classes for Aptitude Test, GD, HR & Tech Interviews, Awareness Programs about Career Planning,Career Mapping and Resume Building. This placement policy is applicable to all students registered for the 2022-2023 campus placements and internships and is to be followed during the entire duration of this placement season. The Career Guidance and Placement Cell, St Joseph's College Devagiri only acts as the facilitator in calling companies to the campus for placements as well as internships. Registration for the campus placement or internship does NOT guarantee a placement or an internship. CGPC - SJC Devagiri 2 2. Campus Placement Process ● The Placement Cell invites prospective organizations every year for campus placements at different locations. The organizations, in turn, may also contact the Placement Cell directly to meet their human resource requirement. ● Company/ Organization fills in a RIF (Recruiter Information form) containing details of the job offer [pay package, location, post, job description and other details] along with the preferred dates of campus visit. ● Post receipt of the new opportunity from an organisation, Registered students are expected to fill up “Expression of Interest” (Online Form) to confirm their interest in attending and participating in the Selection process. ● Placement Cell allots specific dates to the companies for campus interviews based on various details given by companies. The company/ organizations confirm the dates with the Placement Cell in advance. ● The details of the respective students opting for placement are sent to the company/organization concerned, as per their requirement, along with the updated Placement Brochure indicating dates and other relevant details for the campus interviews at different locations. ● All information regarding campus placement is being regularly updated in the College website and the students are duly informed through mails, messages. ● Companies visit the campus on the allotted date(s) and conduct presentations/ written tests / GD / Personal interviews according to their scheduled recruitment process. ● If required, telephonic interviews or online interviews may also be arranged. ● The company/ organizations are requested to declare the final list of selected students within a few days. ● The company should hand over the duly signed copy of the final selection list to the placement cell. ● Placement Cell announces and informs the final list of selected candidates immediately. 3. General Guidelines ● The role of the Placement Cell is of a facilitator and counselo r for placement related activities. It does NOT guarantee a job. ● Applying for a company or joining a company is entirely the responsibility/decision of the student concerned. ● The placement opportunity is only available to the students who have registered with the placement cell and attended the Pre-placement Orientation Program. CGPC - SJC Devagiri 3 ● One job to one student at the first instance. If a student is offered a job he/she will be de-registered from the placement process and would not be allowed to appear in any further processes till campus placement activities are over. ● Post receipt of the new opportunity from an organisation/Company, Registered students are expected to fill up “Expression of Interest” (Online Form) to confirm their interest in participating in the recruitment process. ● Post Expression of Interest, it is mandatory that the student attends the Pre Placement Talk(PPT). Only students who attend the PPT will be eligible to participate in the recruitment process. No exceptions will be made. else he/she will be debarred from the placement season. ● Students will have the choice to not be part of the recruitment process after attending the Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) citing valid reasons, no withdrawal beyond this stage of the process will be entertained. ● Once the student decides to appear for the recruitment process, the student cannot reject the offer made by the company (in whatever format it is offered - email, written communication, telephonic conversation, direct offer during interview process) in search of availing another offer in course of time. ● Opting out of the selection process midway through the process or rejecting offers are not allowed. Defaulters will be penalised based on the recommendations of Faculty Coordinators of the CGPC. ● If a student receives more than one job offer in one slot, he/she has to choose one of the jobs by the end of the slot which has been offered first and will be blocked for other job opportunities accordingly. ● No student other than the Placement Team is allowed to contact the company officials for any purpose without prior permission of the Placement Cell. All correspondence to and from the company will be routed through the Placement Cell only. ● Once the student has been finally selected/received a job offer from a participating organisation via the CGPC, they shall be deemed placed and hence will no longer be a part of the available student pool (deemed placement is defined as a student receiving an offer from an organisation, irrespective of their acceptance/rejection of the offer). ● With respect to the organisation making an offer to the candidate, the student must inform, via an email to placement officer (devagiri.placement@gmail.com) marking a copy to the Faculty Coordinator from their Program the decision to accept or reject the offer within 24 hours or the deadline intimated by the organization, whichever is shorter. ● If the student does not communicate an acceptance/rejection of the job offer within the stipulated time , it is considered that they have rejected the offer, and the offer is extended to the student highest on the extended offer list. ● All Students who accept an offer through placement cell will be liable to pay a recruitment fee decided by the institution. CGPC - SJC Devagiri 4 ● The Institution is no way responsible, if a student who is and primarily short listed misses out any interview process of any particular company. ● If a student makes any false claim in his/her resume, his/her registration at Placement Cell may be liable to be cancelled immediately. If the student has already received a job offer, it would be revoked. ● No dues certificate from the institute will not be issued to placed (on/off campus) students unless the signed copy of the offer letter is submitted at CGPC office. ● It is the sole responsibility of the student to check that he/she meets all the eligibility criteria which might be required at the time of joining (academic, experience, medical, etc.). ● Any kind of indecent behavior during the placement engagement sessions may lead to cancellation of registration. ● The Placement process may be conducted in both physical and / or online mode as per the requirement of the company or depending upon other situations. ● The students should abide by prevalent rules and regulations of the Institute during the placement process. ● No one should request a Placement Cell for any undue advantage. Canvassing in any form is liable to cancellation of registration. ● Disseminating negative messages/false statements/rumors through Social Media and other means may cause debarment from the placement activities. 3.1 Registration Procedure To participate in the Placement Season 2022-2023, the following procedure needs to be followed: 1. Before registering for Campus Placements it is mandatory for all the 6 th semester students to attend the Placement Orientation Session organised by CGPC. 2. An email shall be sent to final year UG & PG students in the month of August wherein students are required to register for the career/internship/placement session by providing their personal details. students are not allowed to register after the deadline of registration; otherwise you have to take the permission from faculty Coordinators. 3. Only registered students can avail the facility of placement cell. CGPC - SJC Devagiri 5 3.2 Eligibility All final year students of the Institution, who are expected to complete their degree by May 2023, are eligible to register with the Placement cell for internship and placement services. 1. Eligibility criteria as per the norms of the company providing placement opportunity. 2. PRE-REQUISITES : ● Students must be registered with CGPC Cell for placements. ● Students having 55% percent marks and above are allowed to take part in the placements. ● Academic Attendance of 75% on the date of campus placement drive is mandatory for every student in the final year to appear in the campus placement. ● Students under disciplinary action are not allowed to register for placements and internships. ● Campus Recruitment Training (CRT) Completion with minimum 90% attendance ● A regular student of St Joseph's College Devagiri having foreign nationality, who wishes to sit for campus placements, must inform the company about his/her nationality. His application is subject to acceptance by the company /organization. Moreover, the process of getting a work permit and other formalities will be done by the student and the company itself. 3.3 Selection of Companies Companies will be invited and scheduled by the Placement Cell on the basis of the following parameters: a) Job profile and growth prospects. b) The package offered by the company. c) Past record of recruitment at St Joseph's College Devagiri d) Feedback from the Alumni and employees regarding the company. 3.4 Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) policy Those students who receive PPO through the on-campus internship process and accept it within the stipulated time period, are deemed to be placed. These students will be out of the final placement process and need not register for the same. Those who reject the PPO will be eligible to sit for the final placement process and will be considered in the general pool. CGPC - SJC Devagiri 6 4. Placement Policies for students ● The Placement Cell is committed to provide equal job opportunities to all the students who successfully complete the Registration and Pre-Placement Orientation Program. ● Students are encouraged to review the job description, organisational details and apply to the organisations of their interest, as per the eligibility criteria set by the Organisation. ● The students selected through campus interview are required to complete all the necessary formalities (e.g.Medical Test etc.) asked by the employer and will join the organization within stipulated time. ● He/ she will keep the Placement Cell updated regarding his/ her progress in the Company. ● A company is free to make their choice of students irrespective of their qualifications, caste, creed, sex, age, marks and experience. ● Any student will be allowed to sit for maximum 4 Campus Interviews during physical mode of campus placement and after that shall not be allowed to appear for the campus placement till the whole batch is placed / open campus is conducted. ● A student who has accepted an offer is expected to join on the given joining date and should always keep informed the Placement team about joining and make sure the offer letter has been received by the placement Cell. ● After accepting a job offer, if any student decides to withdraw his/her acceptance, he/she must inform the company concerned through the Placement Cell immediately. ● In case a student who is placed through the institute campus placement process, accepts private placement as well in another company; he/she must inform the Placement Cell about his/her stance on this immediately. ● A notice of Placement Process once fixed will be communicated through E-mail or whatsApp groups to all the eligible students for that particular campus placement drive. It is important that all students must regularly check their E-Mail & Class Whatsapp Groups for getting information on Placement related activities. It will be students' own responsibility to get updated on placement related processes and activities. (In case of any query student can visit Placement office) ● No preference related to Place of work will be entertained. ● If a student wants to opt out from the placement support of the Institution, he/she must submit in writing/e-mail to the Placement Cell before the commencement of the placement process. ● In case any student wishes to withdraw from the Institutions Placement support after the commencement of the Placement Process, he/she may be allowed to do so by writing an email to placement officer (devagiri.placement@gmail.com) marking a copy to the Faculty Coordinator from their Program, Provided he/she is not amongst students whose interview/selection process is under progress. ● Even after the campus placement, students are required to maintain proper discipline and conduct as per the professional code of conduct of the institution. CGPC - SJC Devagiri 7 5. Placement Policies for Organisation. ● The Placement Cell shall decide on various slots for companies. No company will be allowed to announce job offers before the allotted day and time. ● If, for any reason, a company wants to conduct its process before the slotted day and time they may be permitted to do so with the consent of the Placement office. ● Company has to disclose job description, post, location and pay package (CTC) etc. prior to visiting the campus. ● A company will be allowed to hold pre-placement talks (PPT) to enable them to disseminate information among the students about the job profiles they may be offering or about the company in general or about the recruitment procedure being followed by them. It will generally be followed by time for questions and clarifications. ● For a single company, a student can appear for a personal interview for a maximum of two hours which must include multiple sessions along with breaks in between and no single session can go beyond 45 minutes”. The participating companies are expected to adhere strictly to this rule. ● In case of short listing of a student in multiple companies and interview process running at the same time, recruiters may miss certain candidates due to time constraints/overlapping interview slots. ● The company/ organization is required to furnish the final list of selected students (along with an “extended offer” list) within two days of campus visit. The company should hand over the duly signed copy/email of the final selection list to the placement cell within a reasonable time period. ● In case the company is unable to declare the result within a week, the student is allowed to participate in other companies and the final status will depend upon first-come-first-serve basis. ● Contact no. of HR/others of the company cannot be shared with the students. ● All correspondence to and from the company will be routed through the Placement Cell only. No company should intimate the student about their results or interact with them about their preference. All such communication should take place through Placement cell or its representative. ● The competent authority of the Institution may take a critical review of the company If it fails to recruit the finally selected student(s) even after a substantial period of time of final round of selection. ● Due to the current circumstances, we request the companies to make provisions for students unable to attend the tests or interviews due to reasons such as illness, power cuts and other such circumstances. This can include steps such as conducting multiple test and interview slots over a number of days, telephonic interviews for students with poor connectivity where applicable and including selection on the basis of CV in the process. Code Of Conduct ● Students are expected to reach the placement venue at the time communicated to them and no late arrivals ( beyond 5 minutes of the stated time ) will be allowed inside the venue. ● A participant student is expected to be present at the said venue for the entire placement process. In case the student is absent during any part of the process and their candidature is called out for and is found missing, the student automatically forfeits his eligibility. No discussions will be entertained in this regard. ● The attendance in person for the entire selection process is the sole responsibility of the student, the Student Coordinator/Volunteer or any person involved directly/indirectly in the placement process is not liable for the same. ● It is expected that a student shall NOT add any ambiguous/wrong/misleading information in his/her resume. Resume checks will continue throughout the placement process. If, on verification, any discrepancies are found, the student would be debarred from placements. This may also attract strict disciplinary action. ● Students must keep their Identity Card with them at the time of Company Presentation/ Written Test/Group Discussion/ Personal Interviews, and produce the same when asked by the visiting team, Placement staff or their representatives. ● Students should carry all relevant Documents (Ex. Resume, Copy of educational certificates, photographs, Govt. id proof, Institute id card, etc.). ● Students should be well versed with the company profile, job description and other details. ● It is mandatory for students to attend the PPTs of the companies they have expressed interest in. Students are expected to come on time and in proper attire and well groomed,and should maintain a proper decorum throughout the presentation. Students will not be allowed to leave the room before the PPT is over. Failing to comply with any of these requirements, the student may not be allowed to sit for the selection process of that company. ● The dress code to appear in any activity of the placement process and at the time of personal interview shall be business formals, unless specified otherwise. ● Students are NOT allowed to carry mobile phones with them to any selection procedure, including Group Discussions, Interviews, and Tests etc. ● Students are expected to maintain devagirian decorum throughout the placement process. ● During the screening tests and interviews, no form of cheating would be tolerated. Cheating and using unfair means would lead to severe actions including but not limited to debarring from the test/interview, debarring from placement/internship process and disciplinary actions. ● Students are expected to maintain professionalism while interacting with any of the company officials. ● Any student violating any of these norms would be penalized. ● All matters regarding scheduling of Placement drive will be decided by the Placement Cell, No objections from any student will be entertained in this regard. Campus Recruitment Training STEPS (Strategic Training to Equip Professional Skills) STEPS is a year-long comprehensive campus recruitment training to equip students to handle the recruitment process with confidence and build competencies to enhance their employability skills and achieve a good career path.
