RISELEY VILLAGE SHOW 202 6 SATURDAY 1 2 th SEPTEMBER Full Show Schedule Riseley Village Show Rules ➢ Entries must be on the official entry form and the fee will be 50p per entry for adults. Entry to children’s classes is free. ➢ Competitors may enter more than one item in any category (except where specified to the contrary) but, if successful will only be awarded a single place. ➢ In all classes, the exhibits must have been grown or produced by the exhibitor unless otherwise stated and must not have been entered into previous Riseley Village Shows. ➢ All exhibits must be taken to Riseley Village Hall by 1 1 am on the day of the show. ➢ All reasonable care will be taken of the exhibits, and the public will not be allowed into the Hall until after judging is completed ➢ All categories will be judged but prizes other than first will only be awarded if there are sufficient entries in the category. Rosettes and certificates will be given to first, second and third places. No other prizes will be awarded. ➢ Exhibits can be removed from the hall from 4pm and no later than 5pm. Any exhibit not collected by 5.30 on the day of the show will be assumed to be donated to the Riseley Village Hall fundraisers and sold in aid of funds. ➢ All trophies are the property of Riseley Village Hall Committee. ➢ Following the presentation trophies will be returned immediately to Riseley Village Hall Committee for engraving and will then be held by the successful competitor until the next show. ➢ All exhibits are entered and displayed at the entrants’ own risk. Any case which arises that is not provided for in the above rules shall be decided by the Chairman and Committee and their decision is final. Butter and line a 18cm round, 7cm deep cake tin with greaseproof or parchment paper. Put the flour, soda and all the spices into a large mixing bowl. Add the butter and rub it into the flour with your fingertips u ntil the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Put the sugar, treacle, syrup and milk in a saucepan and heat, gently stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Turn up the heat and bring the mixture to just below boiling point. Add the stem ginger to the flo ur mixture, then pour in the treacle mixture, stirring as you go with a wooden spoon. Break in the egg and beat until all the mixture is combined and it resembles a thick pancake batter. Pour this into prepared tin and bake for 50 - 60 mins, until a skewer comes out fairly clean. Leave to cool completely in the tin before turning cake out. To make the icing, mix together icing sugar and lemon zest, then gradually add lemon juice until you have a smooth, slightly runny icing, ading more juice if needed. D rizzle icing in a zig - zag pattern over the cake, turn cake aroud and drizzle again to create the cross - hatched finish. This event will be held on Wednesday 10 th December in the Village Hall. A selection of posters will be chosen to advertise this event. Recording/videos must be no longer than 3 mins.
