Ausgelöst durch zahlreiche Unternehmenskrisen wird seit Beginn der 90er Jahre in der Corporate Governance-Diskussion die Funktionsfähigkeit des deutschen Aufsichtsratssystems in Frage gestellt. Der Gesetzgeber reagierte hierauf zunächst mit dem KonTraG und zuletzt mit dem TransPuG. <BR> Der Autor entwickelt aus betriebswirtschaftlicher Perspektive Gestaltungsvorschläge, die zu einer Funktionsverbesserung des Aufsichtsrats beitragen. Ausgehend von einer Analyse der juristischen Rahmenbedingungen zeigt der Autor, daß ein wesentlicher Teil der Aufsichtsratsaufgaben zukunftsbezogen ist. Zur Erfüllung dieser Aufgaben sollten Aktiengesellschaften daher über ein Aufsichtsratsplanungssystem verfügen, das die Aufsichtsratsmitglieder umfassend unterstützt. Es wird ein theoretisch fundiertes Gesamtsystem entwickelt, das sich durch hohe praktische Umsetzbarkeit auszeichnet. Zur Förderung der notwendigen Professionalisierung des Aufsichtsrats wird außerdem ein wertorientiertes Anreizsystem gestaltet, das das Planungssystem ergänzen muß.

A People's History of the Second World War unearths the fascinating history of the war as fought 'from below'. Until now, the vast majority of historical accounts have focussed on the conflict between the Allied and Axis powers for imperialist mastery. Donny Gluckstein shows that in fact between 1939 and 1945 two distinct wars were fought – one ‘from above’ and one ‘from below’. Using examples from countries under the Nazi heel, in the colonies and within the Axis and Allied camps, Gluckstein brings to life the very different struggle of the people's and resistance movements which proliferated during the war. He shows how they fought not just fascism, but colonialism and empire, and were betrayed by the Allies at the war’s end. This book will fundamentally challenge our understanding of the Second World War – both about the people who fought it and the reasons for which it was fought.

This book explores the conditions that encourage non-violent civic engagement in emerging civil societies. Gürbüz examines the radical transformations over the past decade in the politics of Turkey's Kurdish minority. On the eve of the new millennium, the Turkish state was still openly denying the existence of Kurds, calling them "mountain Turks," and Kurdish populated cities were ruled under martial law. Kurdish politics in Turkey was dominated by a revolutionary movement, the PKK, which engaged in violent clashes with the state. Less than a decade later, the PKK's rebellion had all but ended, and Kurdish political and civic movements of numerous stripes had emerged. The Turkish state even introduced an official Kurdish-language TV channel. How did this rapid change occur? Gürbüz proposes that contending social movements has transformed the politics of the region, ushering in an era of post-conflict political and cultural competition.

Dabei sind die Fragen nach den Grössenordnungen der Distributionswirkungen sowie nach einem normativen Rahmen immer wieder von aktuellem politischen Interesse. Die vorliegende Studie versucht nun, zum einen genauere und umfassendere empirische Ergebnisse als bisher zu liefern. Zum anderen werden diese Verteilungswirkungen anhand der für die Finanzwirtschaft der Gemeinschaft ableitbaren Zielsetzungen und postulierbaren normativen Masstäbe beurteilt und wird die Richtung möglicher Korrekturen aufgezeigt.
