In der vorliegenden Abhandlung wird ein System zur autonomen 3D-Umweltmodellierung vorgestellt, welches auf den drei Hauptprozessen Datenaufnahme, Datenintegration und Aktionsplanung beruht. Basis der Modellierung sind dichte Tiefenbilder, generiert durch einen rotierenden Zeilenscanner, mit Punktmerkmalen. Durch die Registrierung aller Daten können die Fehler der odometrischen Lagebestimmung minimiert werden. Anhand der ermittelten 3D-Daten wird die nächste beste Aufnahmeposition ermittelt.

Nature represents an amazing source of inspiration, since it produces a great diversity of natural compounds selected by evolution, which exhibit multiple biological activities and applications. A large and very active research field is dedicated to identifying biosynthesized compounds, to improve/develop new methodologies, to produce/reuse natural compounds, and to assess their potential for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries, among others, and additionally, to understand their mechanism of action. This book is dedicated to presenting the most recent results on the development of natural compounds’ applications. Ten original research works, organized by applications, and two reviews are included. Each of them contributes to the knowledge advance, insofar as they present new applications for known products, new methodologies to obtain new products, or the evaluation of a given application, with the applications related to health promotion being the most frequently considered. These works are significant contributions and reinforce the dynamic field of natural products’ applications.

Fritz Hartung (1883-1967), Professor an den Universitäten Halle, Kiel und Berlin, gehörte zu den bekanntesten und profiliertesten deutschen Historikern seiner Zeit. Als Schüler Otto Hintzes hatte er seit 1924 den angesehenen Lehrstuhl für Verfassungs- und Verwaltungsgeschichte an der Berliner Universität inne; seine Bücher, vor allem die vielfach aufgelegte »Deutsche Verfassungsgeschichte« sowie seine »Deutsche Geschichte 1871-1918«, waren jahrzehntelang Standardwerke. Hartung war politisch konservativ, kein Anhänger der Weimarer Republik, stand aber ebenfalls dem Nationalsozialismus fern und erregte mehrfach den Unwillen der NS-Machthaber. Nach 1945 blieb er im Amt und arbeitete ab 1948, obwohl in West-Berlin wohnend, für die Akademie der Wissenschaften im Ostteil der Stadt. So wurde er schon bald zu einem Grenzgänger zwischen Ost und West und zu einer Mittlerfigur der bald geteilten deutschen Geschichtswissenschaft der Nachkriegszeit.; Fritz Hartung (1883-1967), professor at the Universities of Halle, Kiel and Berlin, was one of the most prominent German historians of his time. His books, especially the frequently published »German constitutional history«, were standard works for decades. Hartung, not a follower of the Weimar Republic, was also averse to National Socialism and repeatedly aroused the unwillingness of the Nazi rulers. After 1945, although living in West Berlin, he worked for the Academy of Sciences in East Berlin. Thus, he soon became a mediator of divided German historical science of the postwar period.

The legitimacy of slavery, deeply rooted in classical and Christian culture, was called into question starting from the 18th century. It was a slow process, that had to relate to the peculiar forms the slavery institution got with the European colonisation of America in the Modern Age, that is the workforce imported from sub-Saharan Africa. This process was influenced by economic and political aspects and got a turning point on the intellectual history point of view when the problem of the universal acknowledgment of natural rights of men arose.This history did not concern the colonial powers solely, and this volume explores an unknown field about it, that is the Italian Enlightenment culture’s contribution to the transnational antislavery thought. In their writings, the Illuministi – and Southern reformers most of all – bumped into the colonial slavery matter, focusing on economic science, history, ancient and contemporary political treaties and on the definition of reforms inspired by the principles of natural rights. The black slave got the anti-model of the human emancipation project of political Enlightenment and, at the end of the century, of the revolutionary «regeneration». Human trafficking and the violation of natural rights were, for Italian antislaverists, the «infamous commerce».

Placing itself within the burgeoning field of world literary studies, the organising principle of this book is that of an open-ended dynamic, namely the cosmopolitan-vernacular exchange. As an adaptable comparative fulcrum for literary studies, the notion of the cosmopolitan-vernacular exchange accommodates also highly localised literatures. In this way, it redresses what has repeatedly been identified as a weakness of the world literature paradigm, namely the one-sided focus on literature that accumulates global prestige or makes it on the Euro-American book market. How has the vernacular been defined historically? How is it inflected by gender? How are the poles of the vernacular and the cosmopolitan distributed spatially or stylistically in literary narratives? How are cosmopolitan domains of literature incorporated in local literary communities? What are the effects of translation on the encoding of vernacular and cosmopolitan values? Ranging across a dozen languages and literature from five continents, these are some of the questions that the contributions attempt to address.
