Contact Information https://linktr.ee/FHPS Federal Hill Preparatory School ARRIVAL • Social distancing must be maintained both inside and outside the building. • All students, staff and visitors must wear a face covering on school grounds. • Students may enter and line up in designated areas at 8:30 so that they can safely distance while entering the building at 8:45 am. • Cafeteria: Breakfast at 8:25 am and students arriving on the bus. • Black gate (playground): Pre - K students. • Parking lot gate: K through 5 th Grade (K lines up on pathway, 1 st along steps, and 2 nd to 5 th grade on the black - top). • Students who are late (after 9 am) may enter through the front entrance so that the secretary, Ms. Collins, can make note before sending them to class. • Parents/guardians/family members are not permitted to enter the building during arrival and must stand outside of the gate to maintain safety. Dismissal § Social distancing must be maintained both inside and outside the building. § All students, staff and visitors must wear a face covering on school grounds. § During dismissal at 3:25 pm, students exit the building from designated areas: § Black gate (playground): Pre - K. § Parking lot gate: K and 1 st grade. § Front entrance: 2 nd and 3 rd grade. § Cafeteria: 4 th and 5 th grade & bus students. § ALU students report directly to the cafeteria w/ ALU staff. § Parents/guardians/family members MUST pick up students promptly at 3:25 pm and if they are late, students must be signed out from the front lobby. § Teaching staff leaves at 3:35 pm. Dismissal Vaccination Face coverings Social distancing Testing Ventilation Symptom monitoring Contact tracing and quarantining Cleaning and disinfecting City Schools' Health and Safety Protocols: Core Components LUNCH SEATING CHARTS § Students sit socially distanced at tables. § Students sit with their classmates according to seating charts given by teachers. § If seating charts change, seats in cafeteria may change. MASKS § Lunch time is a natural mask break. § Mask Off – Eating, Mask On for Talking Outdoor Lunch § Students have opportunities to eat outdoors on good weather days. DURATION OF LUNCH § Students have about 22 minutes to eat (last three are for lining/up transition). CLEANING § Cafeteria and lunch duty staff clean ALL TABLES between each lunch shift. § All students sanitize hands before eating. Symptom Monitoring SICK AT SCHOOL § Students are taken to the Wellness room. § The Health care team will determine if the student needs to be tested for Covid - 19. § Students should be picked up immediately if the Health care team determines there is an illness. § Students may not remain at school for the day. SICK AT HOME § Determine illness by asking your child/children Health Screening questions. § Contact Health Coordinator and Administration with any questions about keeping your child home. § Use the document on the link tree to report an absence due to illness. § The Health Coordinator will follow - up with next steps. Symptomatic Testing § Binax testing will be used for symptomatic testing. § Positive Binax result – Quarantine for 10 days. § Negative Binax result – Test student using Mako testing. § If POSITIVE – Quarantine for 10 days. § If NEGATIVE – Student returns to school. § Mako results – 48 hours § Student has 2 or more symptoms at school. § The School nurse takes the students vitals to determine if the symptoms are Covid - like, cold, or allergies. § The School nurse, health aide, or health coordinator may administer a Rapid and PCR test for the student. § The student will quarantine until results are available. § During the school week if you identify 2 or more symptoms, Contact the Health Coordinator to schedule a Covid test at school. Asymptomatic Testing § Testing is facilitated Once a Week on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday by the School Health Coordinator § Students Independently administer the test. § Nasal Swab: Video – https:// youtu.be /fJML8xBEKGk § Results Are Provided by Email and/or Bloomz when Available § Positive Case Notifications are sent to the Positive Pool. If you do not receive a notice that your child’s testing pool is Positive, Your child does not have to quarantine or receive an individual test. § Pools are made up of 25 Individuals Positive Pool § If results are received before dismissal - Students will be tested Individually by the Health Coordinator § If results are received after 4pm - The Health Coordinator will schedule a time for students to come to school for testing. § Students Individually Tested In a positive pool will quarantine until PCR test results are available. § If your child’s PCR test is negative, they may return to school, symptom free. § If a student is exempt from testing, and their classroom Pool results are positive, the student will automatically quarantine for 10 - 14 school days and return after the quarantine period. § All parents will be notified if a pool is positive. We will not report which classroom is positive to the entire school commu nit y. We will inform families that there has been a positive case. Schoolwork During Quarantine § If your child is ill, they should rest. Their absence is excused. § If your child is well, the classroom teacher will provide assignments. When a positive pool is discovered: • Every individual in the positive pool will be tested using Mako testing. • Students must quarantine while waiting for Mako results (48 hours). • Principal reports the positive pool to central office contact tracers and sends seating charts. • After Mako test results are available, contact tracers will identify additional students who need to quarantine after contact tracing occurs. • Principal notifies the school community Students may return to school after 10 - day quarantine – No follow up test is needed. Vaccinated students and staff are not required to participate in weekly COVID - 19 testing, but are welcomed. POSITIVE POOL Step 1: School Becomes Aware of Possible COVID Case Whether in school or out of school, the principal needs to know immediately if the student: • Has COVID - like symptoms • Has tested positive for COVID - 19 • Has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID or has COVID - like symptoms Step 2: School Notifies Central Contact Tracing Team As soon as the school is notified, the school will reach out to City Schools’ central contact tracing team, which tracks all incidents of COVID - like symptoms Central Contact Tracers may assist the school with the next steps in the COVID response process The district also needs information to later determine if any staff members are affected Step 3: School Gathers Additional Information Staff will reach out to the family to: • Check on the student’s and family’s well - being • Ask a series of questions based on their circumstances • Collect information on close contacts Staff will evaluate the circumstances to determine next steps Step 4: Communicating Next Steps to Family After assessment and outreach, it may be necessary for the student and family members to stay home The school will provide the family of the student with directions on next steps We will check - in with the family of the student to ensure they are clear on the student’s options for online learning and return Step 5: Following - up with Other Students and Families The principal will connect with students in the same cohort as the student to provide next steps Sometimes staying home is also appropriate for the entire cohort your child belongs to, depending on circumstances The principal will keep everyone updated as new information is learned Quarantine § Quarantine when you are waiting for Test results. § Quarantine when a Family member living at home has tested Positive for Covid - 19. § If your child is in a positive pool, siblings are not required to quarantine unless an individual in your household tested positive for Covid - 19 or otherwise directed by the Health Department or BCPS Human Capital Office. § The district will contact families directly to communicate close contacts and quarantine procedures. § If a pool is positive, only the students in the pool quarantine. Daily Practice Health Checks § Families must ask students health questions everyday as indicated on the Consent Forms. § Reporting illnesses and positive cases are a requirement. Allergies § Note from a Doctor specifying the specific allergy and possible symptoms. § Complete Health Forms and Provide the Nurse with Medication as Needed § If your child is sick, the nurse will check their vitals and determine if it is covid - like symptoms or allergy symptoms. Reporting An Illness § Email the Health Coordinator, School Secretary, and Classroom Teacher. § Staff will follow up with you regarding next steps. § Submit documentation of Covid Test Results and doctor’s visits. Are loose fitting such as neck gaiters Face Coverings § Everyone must wear face coverings on school grounds. § When selecting a face covering for your student think of comfort and fit. A comfortable face covering that a student is able to wear consistently is importantly. § A back - up supply of face coverings is available for students who may have forgotten theirs § Face coverings can be briefly removed to eat lunch § Planned mask breaks are incorporated into the day for students. Screening Questions If your child answers YES to any of the questions below, please keep them home and report their answers to your child’s school. 1. Do you feel sick or have any of these symptoms: fever of 100.4 or higher, sore throat, cough, difficulty breathing, diarrhea or vomiting, new onset of severe headache, or new loss of taste or smell ? (Note: For students with chronic conditions, such as asthma, the symptoms should represent a change from baseline.) 2. Have you been tested due to COVID - 19 symptoms and are waiting on test results? 3. Have you been diagnosed with COVID - 19 and not completed isolation? 4. If you are not vaccinated, have you had close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID - 19 or suspected of having COVID - 19 and not completed quarantine? Wellness Room The Wellness Room is a safe place for students who feel sick during the day to wait for pick - up. If a student is in the Wellness Room due to COVID - 19 symptoms... § The school nurse meets with the student to assess symptoms. § Parents/Guardians are called to pick up their child promptly. § The school nurse will administer a COVID - 19 test and provide the family with guidance around social distancing while test results are pending. After the student in question is picked up, COVID - 19 In Person Learning Consent Form § Parents are asked to please sign and return the in person learning consent form. The form records your commitment to: § Follow the Code of Conduct and guidelines for wearing a mask and social distancing. § Monitor your child’s health every day for COVID - like symptoms and exposure § Keep your child home if your child has symptoms of a COVID - 19 like illness, has been diagnosed with COVID - 19, is waiting for test results, or has been in close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID - 19 or suspected of having COVID - 19 in the past 14 days § Let your school know if your child has a confirmed or suspected case of COVID - 19. § Pick up your child promptly if they have symptoms at arrival or at any point throughout the school day. § Participate in on - site COVID testing § Follow school or health provider recommended isolation or quarantine guidance in the event of COVID exposure. Ventilation and Filtration § In conjunction with other mitigation measures such as mask - wearing, social distanc and testing, the use of filters and air purifiers makes it safer to occupy the building. § City Schools indoor air quality plan is based on ASHRAE’s and CDC’s (Center for D Control) recommendation to use combinations of filters and air cleaners that achiev MERV 13 or better levels of performance for air recirculated by HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Cooling) systems in high occupancy spaces. Air purifiers are used a filter upgrade is not possible. § Our building has Merv 13 Filters, Air Scrubbers, Air Purifiers. § The lifespan of filters is being closely monitored as the need to change them will depend on a variety of factors including usage and environmental conditions. Curr the planned changeovers for filters are as follows: quarterly for MERV - 13 filters and pre - filters in air scrubbers, every six months for air purifiers and annually for the H filters in air scrubbers AIR QUALITY Cleaning and Disinfecting § Frequently touched surfaces are cleaned regularly using CDC approved products. § Checklists are posted throughout the building and are used to track daily cleaning. § Monthly visual checks are done to review the quality of work.
