BUSINESS STUDY SURECAM DELIVERS SIGNIFICANT SAFETY BENEFITS AND IMPRESSIVE SAVINGS SURECAM PARTNERSHIP WITH FRAIKIN DELIVERS SIGNIFICANT SAFETY BENEFITS AND IMPRESSIVE SAVINGS FOR MAJOR SUPERMARKET salesuk@surecam.com IT House, 9 Commerce Park, Brunel Road, Theale, Reading, RG7 4AB www.surecam.com/uk Fraikin has teamed up with SureCam to help their customer, Sainsbury’s implement a robust driver safety program as well as saving significant costs through the reduction of vehicle damage, road accidents, enhanced claims management and fuel use across its 3.5-tonne home delivery fleet. Under the partnership, SureCam has installed connected forward-facing camera technology across 3,000 commercial vehicles to provide instant video footage of road incidents and gain insight into driver behaviour. CAMERA PROVIDER SELECTION PROCESS Three vehicle camera suppliers were initially selected, so Sainsbury’s could undertake a three-month trial at two depots. This enabled the retailer to compare each camera solution in a live environment and make an informed decision. SureCam was selected based on: • Speed in which camera notifications were received and the ability to view HD video footage instantly from the scene. • Quality and clarity of the video footage, day, or night in various weather conditions. • System usability and the user interface, together with the reporting function within the live portal. • Support and on-going project management offered by the Surecam team. “It soon became very apparent that the SureCam team stood out due to their indepth knowledge and expertise in all aspects of the project,” explains Lorraine Sculley, Fleet Management Director at Fraikin. “The support offered to both Fraikin and Sainsburys throughout the trial was clear, precise and gave all of the stakeholders involved a great deal of confidence.” INSTALLATION, IMPLEMENTATION AND SUPPORT “The planning and execution involved in a project of this size is a significant undertaking, however SureCam has previous experience in dealing with similar size enterprise fleets and our expertise and knowledge stood us in good stead” says Footer. SureCam worked in partnership with Masternaut, the telematics provider for the project, to install over 3,000 cameras on vehicles operating across 300 stores throughout the UK and Ireland. “When you take into consideration the fact that each vehicle camera needs to be configured, packaged, dispatched to the installation team and commissioned on site we are absolutely delighted that installations were completed ahead of schedule and within the agreed SLA,” adds Footer. THE RESULTS Both Surecam’s camera footage and Masternaut’s telematics data is used by Fraikin to perform fleet-wide analysis and reporting to support their customer, monitoring how vehicles are utilised to plan proactive maintenance, reducing downtime, and getting the greatest efficiency out of the fleet. The second phase of the project was to set up and train multiple users across the Fraikin and Sainsbury’s businesses, both onsite and online. Many departments within the organisations required access to the SureCam system and video footage, so various hierarchy and admin rights had to be created. The retailer’s team of regional managers were educated to enable them to train drivers on the use of the camera system, with Fraikin supplying ongoing 24/7 support.
