To that end, we recycle many of the materials we use. If you do not wish to keep your program, please leave it at the registration table in the lobby for recycling. Thank you and have an enjoyable evening. The Spring Awards Convocation is an annual event by the IUPUI Division of Undergraduate Education to honor some of the division’s best students, faculty, and student employees from each of its departments. I designed a 32 page program for the event under Indiana University brand guidelines. Fun fact: I’m featured as an honoree in this program for receving a DUE Department Award! This infographic is designed to be equally as readable to a person with normal vision and a person with colorblindness by using high contrast and a limited palette. Patterns and tints create the visual code instead of relying on color for differentiation. Part of this process involved secondary research about visual disabilities as well as ways to make design more accessible to the visually impaired. INFOGRAPHIC ACCESSIBLE DESIGN KENNEDY FRANKLIN PORTFOLIO / 08 This user experience map describes the experience I had returning an item at Needler’s grocery store. I recorded video and expressed my thoughts from the time I arrived in the parking lot to completing the transaction with Customer Service and leaving the store. I took note of all different parts of the experience including thoughts and emotions, user actions, existing touchpoints and artifacts. It is by invitation only, for AAA members. This includes educators, clinicians and researchers in the field of anatomy. Participants will learn to connect and engage with the public, policymakers, research funders, students, and professionals from any other discipline. I developed the visual identity and digital advertisements for this first-time annual event. SOCIAL MEDIA VISUAL IDENTITY LOGO DESIGN Science has a communication problem— one that can be solved. As our fields have become more complex, some Americans have given up trying to understand what we do, leading to scientific illiteracy. Although scientists have reached consensus on many issues, such as anthropogenic climate change or evolution, the public and elected officials have not. Recent survey research from the Pew Center indicates that there is a wide gap between scientists’ and the public’s perception of how science is used to inform government policy. The timing is right to focus on making effective science communication training a fundamental part of undergraduate/graduate education as well as part of faculty development programing. To train scientists and science learners in these skills, many universities have turned to the techniques of improvisational theater (applied improvisation) in order to help learners speak more spontaneously, responsively, and engagingly.
