His parents were Samuel Nyoike Muguro and the Late Elizabeth Wacu. His siblings were Kenneth Mburu Nyoike, Mary Wairimu Nyoike, the Late Peter Ngaruiya Nyoike, Lucy Linet Nyambura Nyoike. Bernard Wainaina started his education at Mairungi Primary school, later proceeded to Gaichanjiru High School from 1981 to 1984 and then to Equator High School for his "A" levels in 1986. He later joined Devoshire college for a computer technology course. Afterwards he started working at Unique Motors where he worked for 2 years and afterwards started doing business with his sister in Gikomba and Mombasa. Afterwards he started farming and other farm activities which he was doing until his demise. He was baptized and later confirmed at ACK Mairungi church. He got Married to Esther Waruiru Wamwea in 1992 and they were blessed with 3 children named, Julius Wamwea Wainaina, Christine Wanjiku Wainaina and the Late Catherine Nyambura Wainaina. They are blessed with 3 grandchildren named Ryan Wanjohi, Liam Mburu and Kaylen Nyambura. The Late Bernard Wainaina has been suffering from Asthma and Asthma related ailments for several years on and on off where on the night of 8th May, after working for the whole day, he retired to his house where he passed on at night. He leaves behind his wife Esther Waruiru Wamwea, his children Julius Wamwea Wainaina and Christine Wanjiku Wainaina, his grandchildren Ryan Wanjohi, Liam Mburu and Kaylen Nyambura.
