Leave the missing player ’ s name as a – in the score sheet, manually in put the CSR of the player covering for them in that round. OR manually enter the missing player’s CSR, leave the name - , the missing player gets 0 , the opponents get their average — you must use this for a 2 nd player is missing If 3 players can ’ t make it, forfeit or reschedule (min. 1 hour notice). • If a player is late, play the round without them until they arrive, so long as they do not miss a round ( This is a Game Loss for that player for that round ). If a whole team is late, please give your opponents an hour’s notice if possible. A team 15 minutes late with no prior contact will forfeit the match. • If a team cannot play and the game can’t be rescheduled before year end , it is a forfeit. The opposing team gets their average, the missing team gets 0 points. In such a case, both teams must still pay for the night to keep the prize pool even ! Please inform the League Coordinator if a match is forfeited ! • Floating spares may only play in the divisions they are listed in. Regular Players may only play on the team they signed up with , unless they need to change teams for any reason. If a team spare wishes to become a floating spare, they must contact the league coordinator and play for another team before the December break, or remain as a team spare for the year. • You must contact the league coordinator to add a new player/team spare. At least 1 hour’s notice is required. • Missing players must pay for Floating Spares’ nightly fees , but Floating Spares pay their own Sanctions on night 3. Captains must confirm nights played and are responsible for collecting the fee . At the end of the year, an unpaid floating spare’s missed fees will be applied to any team they played with at least 3 teams, divided amongst any applicable teams . Teams can choose how to deal with Team Spares, either paying for them or having them take a share of the prizes at the end of the year. • To take part in Edmonton in February or Calgary in May , a player must have played in the league at least 8 weeks Penticton in February is 5 weeks For Worlds in Vegas, it’s 12 weeks . For the Ragman Tournament in April, 5 nights are required in that Division . ( For anyone heading to Vegas, don’t forget you’ll need a valid passport. ) Scoring • The league uses the 10 - point system, where the winner gets 10 points and the loser gets 1 point for each of their balls down . A perfect game is 10 - 0, a game where both players made it to the 8 is a 10 - 7. • A player’s CSR will be used to determine the handicap. In the case of a new player/spare, the average CSR of the Division at the start of the year will be used. This Average CSR Handicap will be posted on the website, Compusport, and will be emailed to all captains when league starts. Every 60 points difference will grant the lower team 1 handicap point/ round, and is calculated automatically. • U se Compusport to record scores . Players should confirm the score with their opponents when each game is done, or have the captain or another player confirm the score to be sure. Paper scoresheets are for backup purposes only, and won’t be considered in a dispute. Rules of Play • Everyone rack s their own breaks . The breaking player pays for the table. • All non - obvious and all 8 - ball shots must be called Obvious shots include no banks or combos . If a ball could easily be cut into more than one pocket, call it! if there is any chance your shot could be confused for another, call it! ( Object ball & pocket only, no need to call # of banks or caroms etc.) • If you bump a ball other than the cue ball , it is not a foul, even if part of a stroke! (Exception: the bumped ball is hit by another ball, altering the game!). However, if you do not let your opponent know or if you move the ball yourself and shoot , then it is a foul. The opponent can move the ball to where it was, or leave it where it lies. Moving the cue ball in anything other than a legal shot is always a foul. • If a player pockets the 8 - ball on the break , th at player may choose to re - rack or spot the 8 - ball and continue shooting If the breaker makes the 8 - ball and fouls , the opponent gets the choice instead and shoots A game cannot be won or lost with an 8 - ball on the break. In either case, the $2 will be refunded to the original shooter at the end of the year M ark your 8BB on the scoresheet! • Jump shots are Vertical ! Shooting low in an intentional jump shot is called Scooping and is a foul! It involves more than momentary contact with the cueball, as does a double - kiss (Straight shot when the cueball is touching or almost touching an object ball) or a push shot. • Any Coaching will result in a foul . This includes comments which could influence a player’s decisions If you have a rules question , you can ask the opposing captain or consult the rules package in the Red Envelope at the location.
