The 1451 Review is a student-led journal founded by the University of Glasgow Interdisciplinary Society and managed by its members. The 1451 Review is a peer-reviewed journal published annually in August by University of Glasgow Interdisciplinary Society. The 1451 Review focuses on sharing interdisciplinary research which draws from multiple fields of study in order to think across and beyond boundaries. There is no preference afforded to any particular discipline, for as long as submissions cross the boundaries of any two or more disciplines, all such submissions will be considered. The 1451 Review seeks to create an academic platform with the goal of connecting and merging multiple schools of thought and methodologies, which may facilitate future innovation and research within both academic and practical settings. How Do I Submit My Work? To submit a manuscript to The 1451 Review, please attach all the necessary documents reviewed under “Manuscript Preparation” in one single email to iduofg@gmail.com Manuscript Preparation To be considered eligible for submission, the following must be provided to The 1451 Review : The 1451 Review ● The contact details of the author(s). The cover page of the submission should include: the name of the author(s), institutional affiliation, address for point of contact, zip/post code and email address. ● An abstract of the submitted paper of 200 words or less. ● The completed manuscript of the submission of a total length between 2,000-10,000 words. ● This manuscript should include all figures, tables and complete reference sections. Note that the word count from figures, tables and references will not be considered part of the final word count of the manuscript. The above information should be provided in English. Style & Formatting Manuscripts should be: ● Submitted in Microsoft Word format. ● Written in font size 12. ● Written using the Georgia font style. ● Use a line spacing of 1.5 points. ● The style of reference should follow Harvard Referencing guidelines. For an example of Harvard Referencing, see this guide ● Author(s) may include a short section of no more than 100 words to acknowledge any individual, group or institution which assisted in the preparation of their submitted work. The 1451 Review The Submission Process To submit a manuscript to The 1451 Review, please attach all the necessary documents reviewed under “Manuscript Preparation” to iduofg@gmail.com . The deadline for submissions for the August 2020 issue is set to the 15th of July. All submissions to The 1451 Review should be between 2,000-10,000 words in length. Multiple submissions per author(s) are allowed. After the manuscript has been submitted, the submission process will proceed as follows: ● All articles will be peer-reviewed prior to publication by the editorial board. Each submission will be assessed by the editorial board in terms of the quality of academic attainment and interdisciplinarity. ● The author(s) shall be contacted as to whether their submission was successful or not successful. ● The successful author(s) will receive via email a schedule of the review process. ● After receiving comments from the editorial board, the author(s) will be asked to make the necessary edits to their submissions. ● Once these are emailed back to the editorial board, final revisions will be made in preparation for publication by the editor in chief. ● The author(s) will be asked for their final approval of finalised manuscripts pre-publication. ● Finalised manuscripts will be published in The 1451 Review Plagiarism Policy Plagiarizing the work of others will not be permitted. The author(s) will be expected to use citations when using any information in the form of statements, opinions and viewpoints which are not their own original contributions to their work. If The 1451 Review editorial board believes a submission to be suspect of plagiarism, they may take The 1451 Review the decision to not include said submission to be considered for publication without notifying the author(s). Ownership & Permissions By agreeing to the terms of submission to the journal, the author(s) agrees to provide The 1451 Review with the right to publish and distribute their submitted manuscript. Permission does not have to be obtained from the editorial board of the journal if the author(s) wishes to submit their article to another journal. Submissions will be subject to required editing if required. All suggested edits to submissions will be communicated to the author(s) for approval pre-publication. Published author(s) will receive an electronic copy of the journal once published.
