Intention: Your approach to time management should be personalized to suit your specific needs and deadlines. Policies: It's important to note that meeting the eligibility criteria for exam participation requires completion of all 17 quizzes. Late submissions will result in a zero mark, potentially affecting the overall percentage. However, there's a silver lining— the lowest quiz result will be excluded from the average calculation for each subject, alleviating some stress. The key lies in creating a customized study schedule and seeking assistance promptly when needed. Personally, maximizing productivity during work and study hours involved finding a comfortable seating arrangement, exploring additional materials from sources such as YouTube and LinkedIn for valuable insights, even if it meant sacrificing perfect grades at the Quiz. We can always have a bigger comeback at the Final Exams, and like I said: A lot can happen in 2 weeks. 6 @HBSo CORE JAN 2024 Cohort https://blog.ahasayen.com/harvard-core-credential-of-readiness/ Additional Link to Ultimate Guide by Ammar Hasayen v Business Analytics Application of Maths & Social Science As the Ultimate Guide by has already provided an insightful approach on the material covered, I’d like to share my approach in 2024 on these areas: Importance of business analytics in CORE is to have clear conceptual understanding to the Mathematics toolkits necessary for Business applications. The material on the internet such as Youtube can be overwhelming, hence our suggestion to visit these Free download from Cohort Ammar on his blog page for additional knowledge gap fillings, necessary for executives applications. Similar to my exam approach: “A second saved there, is a second spent here”, we walked those paths before and would like to leave a mark so that in unity in business, we streamline the time and efficiency on learning from mistakes. 7 @HBSo CORE JAN 2024 Cohort https://blog.ahasayen.com/harvard-core-credential-of-readiness/ Additional Link to Ultimate Guide by Ammar Hasayen Question Answer What type of distribution should be used according to the number of observations in a sample A T distribution should be used when the number of observations is less than or equal to 30. If the number of observations is greater than 30, the distribution model that should be used is a normal (Z) distribution. What percentage of the observations are under the distribution curve and how does it relate to the number of deviations? 1 standard deviation explains 68% of the observations, 2 standard deviations explain 95%, and 3 standard deviations explain 99%. How can I understand the null and alternative hypotheses The null hypothesis (H0) is the conventional assumption and is the 'opposite' of the alternative hypothesis, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is what one seeks to demonstrate. What is a Type I and Type II error A type 1 error occurs when we reject a null hypothesis that is true, whereas a type 2 error occurs when we do not reject a null hypothesis that is false How to understand a linear regression equation Y = the value we are trying to infer or predict, is the dependent variable. a = the intercept of Y, meaning a will be equal to "Y" only when "X" is 0. b = the coefficient associated with the slope. x = the value of the independent variable. How are the confidence level, P-value, and Z-value related Confidence level of 99%, the P-value is 0.01, and the associated Z-value is 2.58. 95% confidence level, the P-value is 0.05, and its Z-value is 1.96. 90% confidence level, its P-value is 0.1, and its Z-value is 1.65. v Star War method - In understanding Regression Parameters So the logics for easier memorisation is that R1-the basic: Coefficient of the Correlation between Variables. R2, our most familiar robot in Star Wars, is also the most frequently looked at numbers to be referencing the fitness of the variables presented. However R2's workload is max at 3. Therefore, we use R4 for Multiple R. And R3 aka the adjusted R2, would make sense to be located after R 2version. As we'd use R3-the adjusted R2 to compare the accuracy after either Adding or Reducing the number of variables. However, let me share an inspiring story with you: a French graduate achieved top marks in the Accounting Professional Exam! Now, let's tackle this supposed enigma together with these handy tips for mastering the HBS Core: Debit adds and credit subtracts! Remember, every debit entry must have a corresponding credit entry. Relate each topic to your daily experiences. For instance, think of prepaid insurance as similar to your one-year motor vehicle insurance, which you pay in advance. Think of "FIFO" (First in First out) as using up your leftovers before opting for more recent meals. Remember: practice makes perfect! The more journal entry exercises you tackle, the closer you are to becoming a financial pro. Visual aids like diagrams can be a game-changer for understanding entries. Let them bring accounting concepts to life! Find study buddies and tackle topics together. Teamwork makes the dream work! Don't procrastinate when it comes to exam preparation. Start early, because deadlines have a way of sneaking up on you when you least expect it! Managing my time while enrolled in CORe required sacrifice and good time management. I was not able to study while at work, so I spent my evenings reviewing the course materials. I tried to study after my family had gone to bed, so that I was still able to spend time with them while getting the studying done. “ It was tricky thing. I was finishing my work daily and go directly to start studying. Sometimes, I study across the day. All the weekends were dedicated to study CORe. “ I would set aside at least 3 days per weekday evening to spend studying and one full weekend day for the 4 months of module activity. Leading up to the exams, after each module was completed, I would spend every evening studying and every weekend studying. However, if I had a demanding work day, I would opt to watch YouTube videos explaining concepts instead of doing practice quizzes or module review. Sometimes it would be hard to gather myself lt gain focus after a demanding work day. “ How do you manage your time each day and week while balancing work and study commitments? THE COHORT LIFE LESSONS It was a real struggle in the beginning with my full time job and increased responsibilities while meeting several deadlines at work and with course. But as committed as I was I was able to handle both by studying on weekends. “ I practice time-blocking- knowing my schedule, I read in the morning, at lunchtime and late at night. I maintain a to do list as that keeps me focused on my deliverables. I also make out time for slight physical activity to stay alert. “ Being a full time working mother I found very challenging to have time during the week fir studying, often I took the Thursdays off to dedicate to the studying of the modules. “ How do you manage your time each day and week while balancing work and study commitments? THE COHORT LIFE LESSONS I made a study plan so that I would spend one day during the week and two days during the weekend “ CORe is no joke, if you are invested in getting good grades and get the certification, it is important to pay attention to the information provided regarding length (in hours) of each lesson; set time aside accordingly and do not rush through the content. Study in a place where you can focus on what you are reading, take notes and search for additional definitions if some concepts are not clear for you. I noticed that if you got your basics right (first couple of chapters) the rest are easier to understand. Be prepare to sacrifice night out, reschedule plans and scheduled family time to the minute during the three months of the certification. Something that helped me was making sure that anyone surrounding me understood the importance of the certification for me, and the sacrifices I was committing to. “ Whenever I have a gap time, I'd log into the portal and have the weekly topics opened and discussion answered. Mostly I'd keep a maximum 1 day, day off as I let the information sink in memory while I was busy with other things/ commitments other than CORE required study materials. “ How do you manage your time each day and week while balancing work and study commitments? THE COHORT LIFE LESSONS CORe is a very condensed program. I believe that it has to be given the priority over any other activity across the 12 weeks. Do not waist any time during the course. It also important to mention that the time required is based on the student's background. For example, International students might need more time to study and review compared to someone who studied in the US universities. This program is quite intense and requires a lot of time to work and understand the concepts. I would create a study schedule that you can stick to every week so you are not having added mental load of figuring out when to fit studying in. Review the syllabus and pre plan all of your studying time in your calendar based on Harvard's hourly week guide and add an extra hour each day to that guide because you will need that time! The more focused you can be during your studying, the less time you will have to spend. I tried to study in silence without distractions, which meant I needed less time to do the same amount of work as if I had been less focused and distracted. The more focused you can be during your studying, the less time you will have to spend. I tried to study in silence without distractions, which meant I needed less time to do the same amount of work as if I had been less focused and distracted. What tips would you offer to fellow students regarding effective time management and balancing professional responsibilities with studying? THE COHORT LIFE LESSONS I would definitely recommend selecting the longer course option. It helped me a lot to build a content list for each discipline, module, sections and subsections...it is easier to make connections while seeing it as tree list The platform is difficult to use when you need to go back to another module and it disappears from the screen what motivated the search...we have to use two monitors to make it more effective Know your priorities and set time out for them. Play your day around your priorities. Exercising helps in oxygen circulation and focus; make time for it. Let go of things that can wait including social media unless its a source of income. Make sure you are committed to the study for whatever the reason you choose to take this course. What tips would you offer to fellow students regarding effective time management and balancing professional responsibilities with studying? THE COHORT LIFE LESSONS 1) Create your schedule around the length specified for each lesson at the beginning of the certification. 2) Be conscious of any business trips, important meetings, etc... and reschedule those that you can. Only participate if your presence is deemed necessary. 3) Make sure to set the right expectations at work during this 3 months period. Pay attention to the body physically and mentally. Do not stress over past grading, knowing that in time the knowledge gap can be filled and talk to someone from the classroom. You must allocate enough time to study, especially during vacations and weekends. Make sure you are committed to the study for whatever the reason you choose to take this course. What tips would you offer to fellow students regarding effective time management and balancing professional responsibilities with studying? THE COHORT LIFE LESSONS I would wire myself to speed up reading from day one to allow time to cover the materials and release some more time for revisions later in the program. I will also make sure I have very little engagements within the period as its difficult to combine. “ Selecting the longer version of the course would have been easier for me. “ Find fellows to study with from the beginning and make sure that you understand each module before moving to the next. “ If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself before starting the program? THE COHORT LIFE LESSONS Focus on your basics, do not rush through them. It is going to be time consuming but so worth it. “ That everything has worked out the way they should, perhaps if there's an eBook or common place roadmap existed, a lot of time on researching will be saved. And I wouldn't have felt the unnecessary stress over finishing modules while carrying past performance. “ I wish I had reduced my workload and reported to my direct manager that i am taking the program so that he would have given me more and longer time to deliver my work tasks. “ If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself before starting the program? THE COHORT LIFE LESSONS Take the extended course. “ Add extra hours to your week to create a study guide for the final exam while going through the module. It became really intense leading up to the exam because it felt like there was more information and more time that needed to be dedicated to go through each module and fully understand the concepts. “ I would tell myself to be a more active participant of the student community. There are a lot of very interesting and wonderful people in the cohort that are both good friends and business connections. “ If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself before starting the program?
