S eptember 20 18 Grievance Procedure Policy Purpose The purpose of this procedure is to provide employees with confidential individual or collective means of resolving workplace related issues, problems and grievances. Policy Statement An employee who has a grievance that they may wish to discuss with the School should raise the matter with the School Manager. Most routine complaints and grievances are best resolved with the School Supervisor. Dealing with grievances in this way can often lead to the speedy resolutio n of problems without recourse to the formal procedure. Under the formal procedure, the employee will attend a hearing with the School Manager to present his/her case. The School Manager will consider whether any investigation is necessary. A record will be made of the hearing. Every effort will be made to resolve the issue by arriving at a prompt and equitable solution. However, if no resolution is arrived at, the formal procedure will be followed. Formal Procedure The employee should notify, in writ ing, to the School Manager that they wish to place the problem formally within the grievance procedure. The letter should set out in detail the reasons for the grievance. The Manager will reply within seven days. The School Manager will convene a meeting to discuss the issue. Following an investigation a detailed written response of the conclusions of the review undertaken will be given to the employee. If nothing is resolved the complaints policy will come into effect from here.
