Historically, CNA Insurance Company, Chubb Insurance Company, Zurich Insurance Company, and Allstate Insurance Company (for personal homes) have been good options, but market conditions can go in all directions and these companies are either all in or they aren’t writing much new business. The property insurance market has been really firm (high premiums and fickle appetites), but I’d start with those 4. Hope that helps! Mike Michael W. Its been a common myth for decades with insurance companies and I’d like to be able to direct them to companies that understand what listing in the National Register means and doesn’t mean. Hi Mikey-T: I know that property insurance isn’t your bailiwick but I wondered if you knew what insurance carriers are comfortable with insuring properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places? We are finding that most companies erroneously believe that listing in the National Register has a regulatory component but it does not. Listing does not alter property rights in any way but I find that companies don’t believe us. Any thoughts?
