Take a trip up the gondola to do some hiking and sightseeing. If you’re not afraid of heights, book one of the Via Ferrata routes! Book a table at the Eagle’s Eye restaurant in advance to make sure you get a spot. The Eagle’s Eye is Canada’s highest elevated restaurant. Interpretive tours are offered 3 times per day. We recommend going for the first tour (10am) for your best chance of seeing Boo active before the heat of the day. There’s a rollercoaster, a zipline, an amazing obstacle course, a climbing wall, a giant canyon swing, axe throwing, and an epic kids playground. Bonus, it’s only about 3 minutes down the road from our property. You can book a leisurely float through the upper canyon, or a sporty trip through the middle canyon rapids. Or both for a full day! The rate includes a shuttle to the launch pad. The wolves are walked off leash regularly, and you can book a tour to walk with a wolf in its natural environment and get some amazing photos. This centre only accepts cash for payment. Call: (250) 344-7373 Website: Indian Kitchen This beautiful hike is only about a 25 minute drive from our cabin. The trail is 2.2 km one way. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can walk all the way down to the river and get an amazing view of the falls and mountains behind them. Just be careful when the water is high as the current in the river is very strong. Wapta Falls Mt Hunter Access this hike from the same road as Wapta Falls (park at the beginning of the road and walk across the highway to begin the hike). The views are great! Just be prepared for the hike and bring lots of water. It is quite steep in parts. It’s about 3.8 km one way to the lower lookout. There’s an upper lookout too, but the trail has lots of downed trees. Hikes Here are some of my favourite hikes, but click the links at the bottom of the last page for more hiking options. Emerald Lake Loop Get all the best views on this easy loop hike around Emerald Lake. The whole loop is just over 5 km. Definitely go early to get a good parking spot and avoid the crowds! Hamilton Falls This is a short hike to a beautiful waterfall in Yoho National Park. It’s accessed from the Emerald Lake parking lot. Get there early; the parking lot tends to fill up pretty quickly. Takakkaw Falls Enjoy an easy stroll to Canada’s second-highest waterfall. It’s only about 1.5 km out and back, and you get to drive through the beautiful Yoho Valley to access it. Iceline Trail This is a difficult hike with a lot of elevation gain, but it is definitely worth it. You can walk very close to glaciers and see Takakkaw Falls across the valley. The views are stunning! THE WHISKY JACK CABIN Here are the links for up-to-date trail conditions in Yoho National Park and Glacier National Park. There is currently a bear warning in the Illicilliwaet Campground area, which is why I haven’t recommended any of those hikes. If you’re feeling more adventurous, feel free to send me a message! I have lots of other great recommendations for more difficult hikes. Lower Bugaboo Falls This is a nice little trail to a beautiful waterfall. It’s only about 3 km round trip. The falls are quite impressive! You can stop in at Beeland Market in Spillimacheen when you’re done for some ice cream or check out their delicious homemade goods. Thompson Falls This hike is about 5.5 km one way, and it follows along the Blaeberry River for most of it. There are some steep sections to the trail. Even if you don’t make it all the way to the falls, the start of the hike is a lovely place to stroll along the river and enjoy the views. Paget Lookout & Sherbrooke Lake A moderately steep trail up to Paget Lookout with some amazing views. There’s a fire lookout building too. It’s 7 km round trip to the lookout, or just over 10 km total if you include Sherbrooke Lake (which is definitely worth it).
