CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Background of the study Today, one of the most important for college admissions if completing the senior high school. So if you’re planning on studying a four to five years degree program at the college of your dreams, finishing senior high school is a must. K12 is very important, and choosing a best strand is an advantage for academic to your future course in college. Some students they choose the TVL strand for NC2 even though this was not have a connect to their course in college, because some students decides that they will get an NC2 to get an exam in navy, marines, cost guard and etc. They choose what they want because they want to satisfied in their chosen strand and they want more knowledge in strand they choose and to prepare for college. Deciding on what strand to take requires a great understanding of the different strands offered. Your interests, strengths, and weaknesses must be considered to help you focus on your field of interest. Amidst having so many options, many students are mismatched with their strands caused by dissatisfaction. Some are taken over by parental pressure causing them to take up the strand disinterestedly. In the study of Hegna and Smette (2016), it is stated that negative and strong parental opinions sometimes complicate the choosing process and threaten young people’s sense of autonomy. Some are contented in their current strand yet some complain and are unhappy. Dissatisfaction towards one’s chosen strand will lead to inefficiency and incompetence in the workplace and unpreparedness for college. According to AMA Education System (2019), Choosing a track is critical for making a student highly proficient in the field where his or her chosen track is related to, especially if the student wishes to work immediately after graduating from SHS. As most educators say, a mismatch in the track and the student’s interests, personality and passion may lead to a poorly knowledgeable graduate who will find it hard to compete in the job market or keep up with other students when he or she goes to college. . This study is timely and relevant due to the occurring quandary about the contrast between the strands and the interest and skills of the students. There is a need to conduct an investigation about how satiated or dissatisfied the students with their strands. We conducted this study because we want to know if the students really satisfied in their chosen strand. This study will withal optically discern what causes the students gratification and dissatisfaction. Statement of the problem The general objective of this study is to determine the Level of Satisfaction of TVL students in their chosen specialization of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial Senior High School. Specifically, this study will answer the following questions: 1. What are the demographic profile of TVL Student in terms of the following: a. Age; b. Sex; c. Grade level; d. Specialization; 2. What are the Level of Satisfaction of TVL students in their chosen specialization a. Very Satisfied b. Satisfied c. OK d. Dissatisfied e. Very Dissatisfied 3. What are the effects of Level of Satisfaction In academic performance of TVL students? 4. Is there a relationship between Satisfaction and academic performance? 5. What is the degree of relationship between Satisfaction and academic performance? Significance of the Study The specialization in TVL strand will lead the students to the Career they want to pursue in the future. These will mold the TVL Students of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial Senior High School to be ready with applied and specialize subjects, Therefore, dissatisfaction on chosen specialization might result to uncertainly in one’s future. The result of the study be of great benefit to the Following: Students This study will provide information regarding of the Level of Satisfaction of TVL students in their chosen specialization. This study will also help the Junior High School to decide meticulously about this matter. Parents This study will help the parents to be aware of their children’s inclination with their chosen specialization. This study will also help the parents to perform healthy parental involvement. Teachers This study will help the teachers to understand their students. This study will also help the teachers foster new ways to engage the students in the subjects they are displeased. School This study will provide the Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial Senior High School a Description of Level of Satisfaction of TVL students in their chosen specialization. Result will also help the Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial Senior High School to develop the career guidance will be given to the Students, like Orientations, Especially to the incoming Senior High School TVL students. Researchers Data gathering will help the researchers to address the Level of Satisfaction of TVL students in their chosen specialization. Future Researchers This study will help the future researchers to be aware and knowledgeable about Level of Satisfaction of TVL students in their chosen specialization of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial Senior High School.
