The Sahara Desert is about 3000 miles to its east. But it is spread from the Nile River to the Red Sea, in the south, the Sahara Desert is surrounded by the Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. It is spread over 31% of the continent of Africa, its area is more than many countries.
