COMPETITION GUIDELINES AND T&CS: DESIGN BRIEF: Up to Us design competition! Can you create a sustainability design/graphic to be used as part of our sustainability welcome pack tote bags in Portsmouth? THEME: Positive Impact and sustainability within Portsmouth- what are your concerns about climate change and sustainability in Portsmouth? Can include anything related to sustainability, be this positive social impact or the natural environment etc. Your design can focus on what needs to change or what you have noticed we are doing well in our city to contribute towards positive impact. MEDIA: Any (not including photographs). FOR EXAMPLE: Paint, collage, mixed media or a drawing. EMAIL ENTRIES to competition.portsmouth@unitestudents.com. Please send in A SINGLE IMAGE or scan OF YOUR DESIGN. Must be able to be printed. Please include your full name, building and flat/room number. Also, your Instagram handle too, if you want to. WHO CAN ENTER? • All students welcome of any ability! You don’t have to be studying a creative subject to enter! • The only condition is that you must be a resident of any of our Portsmouth properties! HOW WILL THE FINALISTS BE CHOSEN? • A panel of Unite staff from different departments will decide on the 4 finalists and choose the overall winner. DESIGN GUIDE & TIPS: • All designs must stick to no more than 4 colours- this is for printing purposes. • There is no right or wrong design- let your imagination run free! You don’t have to be studying a creative subject either to enter, and the judging panel will not consider this in making their decision. • You could take inspiration from the impact climate change is having on our city or the natural environment such as the seaside, specific landmarks or people from Portsmouth or something more abstract- that is your decision! Please see example of what we are looking for below: Billboard of local artist ’Fark’. Your design could be an illustration, a typed graphic or any sort of graphic. COMPETITION T&Cs/RULES: • The winner may have to be contacted to make slight reiterations for printing sizes/colours etc., so please bare this in mind when creating your design. • You must consent to their artwork being used and displayed for Unite Students for any purpose. • All designs must be in no more than 4 colours- this is for printing purposes. • All entries submitted past 25th May at 4PM will not be counted. To be counted all entries must be emailed to competition.portsmouth@unitestudents.com with the subject ‘DESIGN COMPETITION.’ • All entries must be uploaded in JPEG/PNG file format (CMYK colours if possible) • Every entry will be fairly judged by a small panel of Unite Students Portsmouth staff. • There will be 5 finalists of the competition: one overall winner of the competition, plus 4 runners up. The overall winner’s design will be used for our sustainability welcome pack tote bags in Portsmouth. All finalists will have their work displayed in all Unite buildings in an exclusive exhibition. • The overall winner will receive a bundle of creative goodies including: A Polaroid camera plus film, £25 Rose Clover plant voucher, Strong Island merch, x2 Victorious Tickets and a print from a local artist (LiamHardieDesign), plus their design on our Up to Us welcome pack tote bags for students next year. • Second prize will win a £50 voucher (local retailer/love2shop). All other runners up will receive a £25 UberEATS voucher with recommendations on local places to eat. • All submissions must be individual, as prizes cannot be awarded to multiple persons. • The Winner and all runners up, will be announced on 30th May via email/phone. • Must be a resident of one of our four Portsmouth properties to enter the competition. • Any entries that don’t meet the conditions of the competition, as well as sticking to the theme, will not be included towards the final entries or judged by the panel. You will be notified if this is the case. • Prizes are non-negotiable or able to be exchanged for anything else. The winner plus all runners up will be contacted via email to let them know they have won and details on how to collect their prize. • The winner must not be in rent arrears at the end of their tenancy. • All designs not used will be deleted after the competition end date.
