Whenever people place objects in front of them like a cup or handbag, it could mean they are feeling discomfort. Try to ease the conversation or change the way you sit in relation to each other (e.g. sitting next to each other rather than opposite of each other) and see whether these obstacles disappear. #2: Their Feet Humans quickly learn from young age how to lie through their body language such as their face, but often forget to “teach” their feet how to lie too. This, then, makes feet one of the most reliable body parts to “listen” to. Simply said, when the feets are pointed toward the exit or away from you, the other could feel discomfort. The opposite too, of course, when they point toward you, the other could feel comfortable. #3: Pinching Their Eyes This one indicates discomfort. The reasoning behind this mechanism, is essentially that people try to “reduce the stimuli” they receive from whatever causes discomfort, which can also be done visually i.e. pinching their eyes. #4: Women Playing With Their Hair So this one could mean either comfort or discomfort. Comfort: When they play with their hair while looking at you. Discomfort: When they play with their hair while looking away from you (similar to the mechanism of pinching their eyes). #5: Mirroring Your Body Language When the other mirrors your body language, it usually indicates comfort. People tend to mimic the behavior of the other after 20 to 30 seconds. You can also try to mimic the behavior of the other and make them more comfortable after 20 to 30 seconds to not look too suspicious.
