105th Tactical Fighter Squadron “Kestrel Falcons” Procedure to join a mission as a Support Flight TARCAP/SEAD Steps: 1. A Strategic Operation is generated by the 105th TFS in a public server, and details posted publicly. 2. A Tactical Mission that is part of an Operation is created, and details posted publicly, in a briefing format. 3. The briefing is posted in public in the 105th TFS discord # briefings channel, and sometimes also in the hosting server’s public discord. Example of a briefing: 4. In the example briefing any one interested in joining to support, either as an Air-to-Air role, CAP, TARCAP, or SWEEP, or SEAD role, has all the necessary elements in the briefing. 5. It is not necessary to be able to establish any contact with the flight before take-off, if no time, or no opportunity allows, because everyone already has the package #, the callsign, and especially the VHF intraflight, and UHF tactical of that flight. Example in next page: 6. EXAMPLE 1 – TARCAP “CYBORG11” joins to support: GREEN HIGHLIGHT =CYBORG1 YELLOW HIGHLIGHT= BANSHEE7 1. TARCAP pilots commit to supporting and frag their own flight ▪ in an Airbase of their choice ▪ with the aircraft/squadron of their choice ▪ with the weapons of their choice ▪ in a package of their choice ▪ with the tactics of their choice ▪ take-off time of their choice 2. Every flight takes off 3. The TARCAP flight is responsible for contacting BANSHEE7 UHF 6 after 10 minutes of the fragged take-off time of BANSHEE7 , it is not required to be exactly 10 minutes, just after 10 minutes, but never before ▪ The purpose of the first contact is to inform BANSHEE7 that CYBORG1 is assuming the role of TARCAP, and exchange vital mission information “BANSHEE7 this is CYBORG1 on your UHF 365.024, CYBORG1 is TARCAP for your mission” ▪ CYBORG1 tells BANSHEE7 their own UHF 6 so that BANSHEE7 can later contact when required “BANSHEE7, CYBORG1 our UHF tactical is 322.000” ▪ BANSHEE7 tells CYBORG1 their current position, mission egress point, and approximate target area point: “CYBORG1 BANSHEE7, appreciate the support, your UNIFORM is 322.000, CYBORG1 you have ““Air Clearance Authority””, our position is currently 120 for 80 heading North, rolex plus +3 minutes, our Mission Egress Point for safety orbit is 090 for 40, our target area is 320 for 30, how copy words?” “BANSHEE7 CYBORG1 copies all, reads back your Mission Egress Point for safety orbit is 090 for 40, your target area is 320 for 30” “CYBORG1 BANSHEE7, good readback, will contact you to request clearance into the target area 30 miles out from area, you are cleared to change frequency” “BANSHEE7 CYBORG1, copy, CYBORG1 leaving your uniform” 4. Now the TARCAP flight has been given Air Clearance Authority and is solely responsible for giving “clearance in”, or “orbit for safety” commands to the Air-to-Ground AI mission. 5. 30 miles from the target area, approximately, BANSHEE7 requests “clearance in” into the target area from CYBORG1: ▪ “CYBORG1 BANSHEE7, position 360 for 5, inbound to target area, playtime 30 minutes, requesting clearance IN” ▪ “BANSHEE7 CYBORG1, you are cleared in, cleared to change frequency” ▪ “CYBORG1 BANSHEE7, leaving your uniform” 6. From this point on, only if a threat is in the area, does TARCAP CYBORG1 need to contact BANSHEE7 and give command “orbit for safety”. This is a command instruction that immeditately sends BANSHEE7 running BUSTER to the Mission Egress Point. This is supposed to be 1 of the 2 necessary commands, as short as possible, and as brief as possible, to avoid cluttering the radio. CYBORG1 does not waste any time, simply changes UHF and calls. After CYBORG1 gives command “orbit for safety”, CYBORG1, and BANSHEE7 acknowledges and reads back command, CYBORG1 leaves the BANSHEE7 UHF immediately without any more radio communication necessary: ▪ “BANSHEE7, BANSHEE7, CYBORG1, “orbit for safety”! ▪ “CYBORG1 BANSHEE7, roger, orbiting for safety” 7. Now that BANSHEE7 is orbiting in safety, the picture is again cleared by CYBORG1, and “clearance in” given again as soon as possible by CYBORG1: ▪ “BANSHEE7, BANSHEE7, CYBORG1, you are “cleared in””! ▪ “CYBORG1 BANSHEE7, roger, cleared in!” 8. After either of the flights is over, or needs to REFUEL, they can contact each other, in this case BANSHEE7 is mission over and RTB, contacts leaving the area first, then contacts to confirm he is safe and FENCED OUT, and is SPLITTING. First the call for leaving target area: ▪ “CYBORG1 BANSHEE7, on your UNIFORM, mission is over, leaving the target area” ▪ “BANSHEE7, CYBORG1, copy, cleared to change frequency” ▪ “CYBORG1, BANSHEE7, copy, BANSHEE7 leaving your uniform, will call back when FENCED OUT” 9. Now BANSHEE7 is at a SPLIT point, FENCED OUT, calls to say goodbye, and appreciate the support: ▪ “CYBORG1, BANSHEE7, we are FENCED OUT, BANSHEE7 is history, appreciate your support, requesting clearance to change frequency”. ▪ “BANSHEE7, CYBORG1, copies all, you are safe, cleared to change frequency” Mission is over, for BANSHEE7, all steps are finished. For SEAD mission use the exact same steps.
