Baby Hassan is a 6 months old baby boy (DOB 4.11.20), born to a nomadic family in a remote area in the countryside of the Somali region in Ethiopia with a defect medically known as an Anorectal Malformation/Imperforate Anus, which means no Anal opening at the bottom. He was brought to the town of Godey, in the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia where he had a temporary colostomy, in the town hospital which means bringing the end of the bowel out on the side to allow him pass stool, 5 days later on 9.11.20. He has been living in this condition since the colostomy operation constantly contracting and fighting off infections. He requires a major corrective surgery urgently which cannot be done in the region. He has recently been brought to Mogadishu, Somalia and was seen by doctors in Digfer and Shafi’e Hospitals where his parents were advised that the necessary operation could not be performed in the region due to lack of capacity and equipments and he needed to be taken abroad, feasibly Turkey. The cost of his operation in Turkey or a similar destination (determined by visa and Coronavirus restrictions), including travel and accommodation but excluding post op rehab and care is estimated to be in the region of US$50,000 (£36,000). His poor nomad parents with no savings and no assets cannot meet the cost of his treatment, therefore, please help and donate generously in your personal, professional and organisational capacity for him to have this life changing operation and give baby Hassan a chance for a better quality of life.
