Playing with textures, materials and technology, these innovative Contemporary artists change the way art is presented. Throughout this carefully curated selection, different and new perspectives on the very essence of art-making, composition and installation are developed. Mirroring the inextinguishable course of progress, art practices are ever-evolving, and these works epitomise some of the numerous encounters of art, technology and the celebration of individual forms of expression. Thanks to new means and new technology, light has become a manipulable medium, superseding its former ineluctable and absolute properties. Handling light has gone through centuries of refining, and is now exhibited in paragons of fineness in the LED-lit etchings of Tatyana Murray, the 3D paintings on canvas and LED by Son Bong- Chae, or the hypnotic sculptures designed by Anthony James. Light also gloriously conjugates in the neon works of RISK, and Masaki Nakao. Light diffraction is at the core of the lightboxes of Franck Keller, and the lenticular art of Bae Joon Sung, who creates motion in stillness. Away from immobile imagery, the medium that characterizes our era is definitely video. Ever- changing and adaptable, video is used in the poetic visual algorithms of Pascal Haudressy and the impactful installations of Fabrizio Plessi. Video also offers a whole new realm to honour classical Tatyana Murray, Ghost Tree, mixed media, 73.7 x 99 x 9.5 cm artwork, as Han Jin-Ping does with whimsical humour. Lastly, our selection focuses on artists reinterpreting common supports, like the impressive sculptures and collages of David Mach, the remarkable badge and phone compositions of Joe Black, or the intricate vision of canvas and paint created by STALLMAN. This exciting new opus of the Cutting Edge series offers an unprecedented insight into current artistic practices, as well as an unique overview of the aesthetics of the future.
