Halifax Raiders 01/10/2020 ISSUE 51.3 THE BOARD REPORT Al Kayhall throws Championship parade for 1 Al Kayhall Shown hoisting the Challenge Cup before addressing the crowd All of Halifax turned out for Al Kayhall’s self-funded parade to celebrate his championship run with the Hamilton Steelhawks this season during his day with the cup. Rumored to have cost over a million dollars it was nothing short of a spectacle. “I was so amazed when the parade started, he had this giant curtain that hung across Main Street and no one could see behind it. Suddenly steam poured out and we heard a trumpeting sound. I couldn’t believe it when the curtain dropped and there was Al standing atop a Mother ***** elephant with the cup over his head, might have been the most amazing thing I have ever seen” Said Mayor Richard Dickson after the parade. Kayhall rode alone during his parade, standing on the top of the elephant down the length of Main Street and Second Avenue, followed by two marching bands loudly playing the famous Chariots of Fire the entire way. Also in the retinue was the Krash Girls from Karl Krashwagen’s brewery. Al had hired them to provide beer to any that showed up to attend his parade. Beer in Halifax is always a safe bet and most of the town and the Raiders showed up to watch the spectacle. Noticeably absent however was two way forward Thicc Cheezy, which has been rumored to be “under the weather” recently, but has been in the country side according to his manager. The highlight of the parade might just have been the low fly over by a local farmer in a biplane which dropped thousands of pictures of Al Kayhall heroically cheering Hamilton on from the bench in the final seconds of game 5. Many of them had his phone number stamped on the back side. Al also threw out pictures to the crowd of him practicing in a Hamilton jersey. At the end of the parade Al took the stage to address the crowd, he thanked his management, God, the Raiders and Hamilton staff for drafting him, and nearly every player on the roster except for Cheezy. Speculation however might have been he simply forgot as he mentioned at the end of the thanks that he felt like he had forgotten to thank someone. “My time in Hamilton has taught me so much, it’s that Raiders can rise to any occasion and we only need believe in ourselves to achieve greatness. I cannot wait to lead the Raiders to a championship much as I helped led the Steelhawks” were his closing remarks to the crowd. We in Halifax eagerly await the leadership of the young superstar. Al will be hosting a party for many members of the Raiders later this week. We look forward to seeing what he will pull out at that event. PAGE 1
