ARC Workshop 12 Projects of Interest by OSUN Get Engaged Conference 2022 Deadline: February 15, 2022 The Get Engaged 2022 Summer Conference takes place on June 26-July 1 in Budapest, Hungary. This is an in person conference, pending Covid conditions. Get Engaged is a leadership and civic engagement-oriented conference in Budapest, Hungary with all expenses paid that brings together students from across the world to develop community leadership skills and collaborate on solutions to local and global challenges. OSUN Global Commons Deadline: February 15, 2022 Global Commons welcomes submissions in any genre, including research-based, journalistic, or expository academic work, and creative work, including personal narrative, fiction, poetry or other art and media including sound files, photo essays, or visual art. Global Commons is created and developed by college and university students from OSUN and will publish twice a year. The editors encourage students to write and publish in any genre or language while also challenging themselves as writers, leaders, and global citizens. Info Session on CEU Budapest Research Grants on February 15 at 4:00 pm (Palestine time) The Yehuda Elkana Center for Higher Education at CEU invites OSUN faculty, staff and graduate students interested in short term research visits at CEU in Budapest, Hungary to attend an information session covering the application process for short-term visits to be completed before July 31. The goal of this small grants program is to support members of OSUN institutions whose research, writing and curriculum development projects will benefit from access to CEU research resources and infrastructure and engagement with CEU scholars. OSUN Civic Engagement Open Door Hours Every Wednesday Next: February 16 at 3 pm (Palestine time) The OSUN Civic Engagement working group is sponsoring a number of exciting opportunities over the coming months. Expert Insights: Building Resilience Through Positive Intelligence on February 17 at 6 pm (Palestine time) ARC Workshop “Do you ever feel like you are sabotaging yourself but don't know how or why? We all self-sabotage, and it can be so automatic that we don’t even realize it. When this destructive thinking continues, it causes us to struggle and draws us further into negativity and self-defeat.” The third edition of OSUN Ex Ed Hubs' Expert Insights series will have Lydia Wazir-Staubmann, OSUN ExEd Hub Director and Certified Resilience Trainer & Executive Coach, taking a deep dive into the concept of self-sabotaging and share proven tools and exercises to strengthen your resilience and re-train your brain to strengthen positive thinking. OSUN Certificate in Civic Engagement Deadline: February 27, 2022 The application is open to first year, second year, and third year undergraduate students. Seniors are not eligible to apply. The certificate provides a structured path for undergraduate students interested in deepening their knowledge and understanding of civic and community engagement by merging curricular and co-curricular interests. Courses that are a part of the certificate focus on themes related to civic engagement and/or the practice of it. The certificate is acknowledged on each student’s transcript. Engaged Senior Project Grants Deadline: February 27, 2022 Juniors from within the network can now apply for grants to fund their 2022 Engaged Senior Projects. In the final year of undergraduate studies, students from OSUN universities and colleges produce senior research projects and theses, fulfilling the requirement for a senior or capstone project at a member institution. Microgrants are available to support such research projects that center on a problem emerging from a community engagement experience or are conducted in collaboration with a community partner. CEU Summer University 2022 Deadline: February 28, 2022 Central European University’s Summer University program (SUN) invites applications from OSUN members for its 2022 summer courses. The first application deadline is February 28, 2022. CEU SUN is a program for advanced undergrads, graduate students, postdocs, junior faculty, and researchers, as well as professionals who wish to upgrade their knowledge in a variety of areas in the social sciences and humanities; gain applied skills; and build interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral networks. The courses, offered for one or two weeks in June and July on CEU’s Budapest campus, are taught by international teams of scholars and practitioners and use CEU’s state-of-the-art academic resources and facilities. CEU Budapest Research Grants Deadline: March 1, 2022 OSUN faculty, staff and students interested in short term research visits at CEU in Budapest, Hungary are invited to apply. The goal of this small grants program is to support members of OSUN institutions whose research, writing and ARC Workshop curriculum development projects will benefit from access to CEU research resources and infrastructure and engagement with CEU scholars. Apply for visits ranging from one week to one month from March 1 to July 31, 2022 to do your research. For the Spring-Summer 2022 cycle, CEU will cover accommodations in the CEU Residence Center, flights, and a living stipend in case of need. Engaged Research Fund 2021-2022 Deadline: March 1, 2022 Funding and research support for graduate students and faculty who are working to develop long-term, sustainable community partnerships as a central part of their research with a goal to develop shared knowledge about issues that align with OSUN priorities and themes. The Engaged Scholar Award (ESA) for graduate students pursuing research that integrates community engagement into new or existing scholarship. Award: $6,000 The Engaged Faculty Scholar Award (EFSA) is for faculty whose scholarship incorporates community-based research into new or existing research and supports sustained community partners as long-term collaborators. Award: $9,000 London Critical Theory Summer School 2022 Deadline: March 18, 2022 Organized by the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities, the internationally renowned Critical Theory Summer School enables graduate students and academics to engage in a two-week course of study with acclaimed critical thinkers. Third-year undergraduate students as well as Masters and Ph.D. students and in particular those located in the Global South across the OSUN network are invited to apply. There are 2 opportunities to join the London Critical Theory Summers School in 2022, either in-person or through our reduced virtual program. Monthly Civic Engagement Workshops Deadline: May 29, 2022 This series of monthly workshops on every last Sunday of each month brings student leaders together from across the Open Society University Network to learn from each other’s experiences, reflect on each other's work, gain insight and training, and work together on gathering material helpful for new project leaders. By bringing the effective work of student leaders to light, this series provides them with the necessary assessments, knowledge, abilities, and skills needed to ensure sustainable projects.
