Our mission as a growing charity is it make our parks better places to meet, play, learn, grow, breath and enjoy nature. Supporting community groups to run projects and activities in their park is key to this aim. The first round of the Love Your Park Community Fund will focus on supporting community action in parks following the pandemic. Full information on the groups and projects we can and cannot fund can be found below. We are committed to supporting groups to develop their project ideas and give you the best possible chance of being successful. Projects must focus on supporting community action in parks following the pandemic. Applications must also demonstrate how the project will meet at least one of the following outcomes: • Supporting community recovery from the pandemic by providing opportunities for local people to come together around shared activities. • Encouraging the use of parks & green spaces by people or groups who don’t regularly use green spaces and benefit from them • Improving parks for nature by enhancing habitats • Supporting community health and wellbeing by providing opportunities for people to access nature and be active close to home. We will consider all applications but will prioritise applications from groups and organisations benefitting disadvantaged people (particularly older people, young people, Black, Asian and minority ethnic people, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, disabled people and people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds). All projects must be inclusive and benefit all sections of the community. Groups and organisations wanting to apply should contact the landowner e.g. Council parks service, to see whether they support the project. This might involve some discussion and negotiation. We will not be able to support projects if they do not meet these outcomes. Please check your project meets these outcomes and if you are unsure, do contact us for advice. Who can we help Your group must: • Have an annual income of less than £30,000 per annum (priority will be given to those with an annual income of less than £10,000 per annum) • Deliver projects within Bristol City Council and Bath and North East Somerset Council areas. • Your proposed activity must take place within a particular park or green space. • Have landowner approval for your proposed activity. • Commit to providing an outcomes and evaluation report twelve months after funding is awarded to demonstrate impact and accountability (see below for more information about this). We will prioritise applications from groups and organisations which find it difficult to access funding including small charities, CICs, social enterprises, ‘not for profits’, unincorporated voluntary groups with a constitution and informal voluntary groups with no constitution or bank account We are unable to fund • Promotion of activities which are contrary to our charitable purposes • Groups with income over £30,000 per year. • Groups or projects working outside of the cities of Bristol or Bath. • Applications from individuals (but please talk to us if you are setting up a group). • Unrestricted or revenue funding for large organisations. • Promotion of religious or political activity. • Parties, shopping trips or international travel. • Large capital purchases such as vehicles. • Sports clubs where the grant will be used for the primary benefit of the club, its members and the associated sport. How much funding can you apply for? You can apply for a grant of £500 to £1,000. Grants can be used to fully or partially fund activities. Only one application per organisation will be awarded in any 12-month period. If you are successful in receiving a grant you can reapply for funding 12 months after satisfactory submission of a monitoring report. How to apply Applications will be open from midday on Monday 26th July to Sunday 5th September at 8pm. To apply, you need to complete an online application form using the link below. Please note you can complete the application form in stages, e.g. you can start to complete it, close it and return to it later and your answers will still be there, so long as you use the same browser and device (and are not in incognito or private browsing mode). Application form: https://bit.ly/2UWJ6sq What will happen next? Once we have received your application it will be acknowledged and assessed by the Love Your Park Community Fund decision panel. We aim to have made decisions by early October. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their decision. The decision will be final, and we will not enter into further correspondence with applicants. If you an awarded a grant, you will be asked to sign and accept a Grant Acceptance Form containing terms and conditions. Once you have done this, we will be able to make payment of the grant. Monitoring and evaluation We will send you a grant monitoring report form with your offer letter. You will be required to return and complete this to us twelve months after receiving payment of your grant. You will be required to detail how the grant was spent and what outcomes were achieved. We will also do a check in visit with you in February 2022 to see how things are going.
