Vitals HELP OUR STUDENTS TRAVEL The Medical Alumni Association is thrilled to announce the launch of our Help Our Stu- dents Travel (HOST) program. Our HOST program aims to support fourth-year students as they prepare for interviews and coordinate travel arrangements for residency. Our goal is to match students with interested alumni based on location, institution, and program. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have created mechanisms that will help alumni and students determine the best and safest ways to connect. Whether connecting by phone, video, meeting for coffee, or offering overnight accommodations, this experience will provide immeasurable benefits to our students. REGISTER HERE SCHOLARSHIP SPOTLIGHT: CASEY ZHANG AND JA’NIA MCPHATTER Each September, first year med students can apply for the MAA Scholarship. This scholarship provides $5,000 in financial assistance for two students that will follow them through their four-year course at Pitt Med. This year, 42 applications were submitted. READ MORE ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: TIMOTHY KLATT Meet Timothy Klatt (MED ’92), who serves as professor and head of the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology and as the medical director of patient safety at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Klatt was recently honored with Froedtert’s Thomas L. Smallwood Award for Clinical Excellence, the highest honor bestowed by the hospital. READ MORE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE LAUNCHES NEUROLOGICAL IMAGING AND THERAPEUTICS CENTER The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine will launch of the Alba Tull Center for Neuro Im- aging and Therapeutics. The center will be dedicated to designing and expanding imaging technol- ogies for patient care to produce a new, sophisticated understanding of the brain at the molecular level with the goal of developing anti-aging therapeutics. Students organized a memorable outdoor ceremony and celebration on the lawn of UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with speeches, a photo booth, music, and more. 129 students matched in residency programs in 23 states representing 27 specialties.
