If you don't care how long you want to do Anki each day, just do your note-taking in Anki and create as many as possible. Suspend (don't delete, you might need them later) those that you think you don't need and recreate cards while reviewing them (rather than trying to create the perfect cards first try). Here's a nice article how to formulate your knowledge (e.g. cards): Effective learning: Twenty rules of formulating knowledge It's written by Dr. Piotr Wozniak, the creator of SuperMemo which is the precursor of Anki. I personally think you should make questions instead of clozing / copying things without much thought. It forces you to think questions like: 1. What do I want to know? 2. What do I have to know? 3. What is the probability this question will appear in a test? (the higher, the better) ...while also reducing workload. Don't use basic cards. Every basic card can essentially be turned into a clozed card, which can be modified much more easily later on (e.g. adding / removing clozes of the same card).
