Oye Co-Chairs Inaugural DC VEG WEEK and creates Partnership with Educated Choices Program Washington, DC— With the first DC Veg Restaurant Week near its end, celebrity co-host US Representative Oye Owolewa commends all those involved and engaged in this successful week. From May 7th to 14th, DC Veg Week featured the District’s leading elected officials including Ward 1 Council member Brianne Nadeau, Ward 2 Council member Brooke Pinto, Ward 3 Council member Mary Cheh and Mayor Muriel Bowser. DC Veg Week not only celebrated some of the best eating options in DC and surrounding areas, but also introduced education on plant based meals to the greater community. Rep. Oye affirms, “I would like to thank everyone, including DC Voters for Animals, Veg Week, and MBO media for bringing attention to plant-based options. We ate well, had fun, and enjoyed plenty of energized conversations. Increasing food options in DC will bring us closer to a cruelty-free world as we continue to address food and environmental justice.” The Office of US Representative Dr. Oye Owolewa has teamed up with Educated Choices Program, an education program providing free educational programs developed from the latest scientific data with a mission to provide science-based education about the impact of food choices, to empower current and future consumers and leaders to help create healthier, more sustainable food system for all. This partnership developed due in part to DC Veg Week, will create a sustainable space in the District to advocate for food and environmental justice with education at the forefront. The hope of this partnership is to keep Washingtonians informed about the variety of their food options, healthier alternatives, and remain conscious on how their food is prepared and processed. ### Release Date: May 13, 2022
