Learn the Basics of Digital Photography Taking Creative Control of your Digital Camera Learn the Basics of Digital Photography This course is for: This course is intended for those who want to take control of, and understand, the various controls and settings of their digital camera in order to produce sharp, well exposed and creatively composed pictures. You will learn: The course will cover: • The various controls and settings and available on most digital cameras. • When to choose programs such as auto, shutter and aperture priority and manual exposure. • When to choose auto or manual focus. • When, and when not, to use flash. • How you might compose pictures more creatively This course can be completed online at a time and pace to suit you. There are no exams or formal assessments. There will be chance to ask questions and put what you have learned into practice via email after the course. Your tutor will also give you feedback after the course via email and you will be able to self-assess. Work outside of sessions: You will be given tasks or activities to practise. There is an expectation that you will complete work outside of the sessions in your own time. Your tutor will give you guidance. Additional costs and what to prepare: This course is offered free of charge and there are no other costs. You will need either a smart phone, tablet, laptop or other computer with internet access to take part in this Nearpod session. You will also need a pen and paper, laptop or tablet so that you can make your own notes. Handouts will be emailed to you after the session. You will require the following equipment/resources for this course - your own digital camera. This course tasks involve being outside. Please wear comfortable footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather and/ or clothes that you don’t mind getting messy, depending on where you go to take photographs. How to access your course: You can access this Nearpod session at a time to suit you. An email will be sent within 3 working days with joining details. Progression from this course: You may wish to progress to more advanced learning. The session will conclude with recommendations for further sources of learning and information.
